It's just ruined her reputation and her career. This, people, is why everyone should boycott commercial radio. The "pranks" are not funny, the hosts are not witty or funny by any stretch of the imagination, the listeners who call in have the intelligence of a towel. I ignored this story originally for the shite it is. Now that the nurse involved has committed suicide, I want my opinion voiced. Low life fucking scum who did this should be held partly acountable. Rating, notoriety be fucked. You deserve to burn in hell cause as far as I'm conerned, you're complicit in murder. |

She would easily have shouldered the flack connected with the prank. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29130443 I think it's the exact opposite... When you work in that field for one or two decades how can you not be stressed out to the max? Add that prank to a fragile, tired soul and this isn't at all surprising. |

Seriously brits eat that type of humor up, and their mastery of sarcasm should have toughened her hide to this type of thing long ago. Sickens me when the media try to play something up rather then report the truth, poor women had some problems that she could not deal with and took her own life. She did not lsoe her job and no one was making fun of her and even so brits can take a joke I talk to many many brits and a joke like that would be mild to them. so why is the media trying to associate them with this unless this publication simply hates those hosts. I don't blame them and I am disgusted that the media would try to report it in such a way to make one assume that was the case. this poor women deserves better then that. |

Like really she is a nurse who is respected enough to handle a royal, you don't get there with out going though some tough shit. It was a bloody prank, and I'm sure, as a nurse, she was handling it fine. Most news outlets are referring to her death as 'unexplained'. I do not believe she committed suicide. |

Crazy Harriet User ID: 29170615 United States 12/07/2012 12:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | In the USA, there are strict rules about imparting patient information, even to family. It's simply not permitted without the patient's consent. It would be surprising if there were not such rules effecting the nurse, as well. The pranksters should be held accountable, for using the pressure of "authority" to overwhelm the nurse's normal response. Given a few minutes to think it over, she would have had a different reaction. No different than hitting her with a fast car on a sidewalk. Destroyed her job and future earnings, made her a laughingstock and yes, killed her, for a laugh. Sociopaths at large. Hang 'em. She was likely one of those people that practically worshiped the royal family thus was so excited hearing the "queen's voice" that she lost her senses. This mistake brought a sense of shame upon her that was too much to go along with never working in her field again. |

Strange, though, that a nurse would be operating the switchboard! At least that's what the article said.... "She was initially thought to be a receptionist at the hospital but is now said to have beeen a nurse staffing the switchboard." BTW, I find it hard to believe the nurse would kill herself over this. I don't know how it is in the UK, but in the US, hospitals will typically give out minimal patient information, over the phone, to family members. It's not a perfect system, but it usually works pretty well. Nurses are tough people. I've worked with many in my field, and encountered many more in the course of my long life. This nurse would not have worked her way to a position in that hospital had she not been the exact opposite of someone who would commit suicide over a prank. |

It's not unusual for nurses to do relief duty at a receptionist's desk. It doesn't mean she was demoted; it's simply how 'holes' are filled when the receptionist is at lunch or on a break. |
