Im siding with the fact that the squirrel wanted fresh meat, They will eat anything,

One time we were eating a pepperoni pizza delivery in our front yard picnic. We stepped away for a few minutes and saw a squirrel running off with a slice of pizza. lol.. it was kind of big for him, so he was more dragging it away.

The squirrel even came back to grab the breadsticks..

honorable thing to do is to pick up the critter in a sanitary way off the road and place it back to where it can decompose to nature..

Its pretty sick watching a carcass get run over , over and over again...

If its safe and not a busy road, Id take it off.

Re: I just saw a squirrel trying to pull a freshly ran over, dead squirrel off the road with its hands.. made me sad
.

True story:

I have huge pecan trees in my yard, so naturally I have plenty of squirrels.

One day a momma squirrel was chasing her babies up and down
a tree next to my patio. She would catch a baby and take it
back up the tree to her nest... but then another baby would
make a run for it and she would chase that one down too.

This went on for a few minutes, then a baby fell from the
tree on to the patio. I could see it laying there breathing.
Then the breathing stopped.

Slowly the momma squirrel came closer to the dead baby...
then she carried it away towards the alley. Then she did
something remarkable.... she came back to the exact spot
on the patio where her baby had died and she laid on her
stomach with all her limbs spread out. She laid there in
that pose for several minutes like she was mourning her baby.

This makes me so sad.

Brief is either a troll or mentally ill, either way, you're not going to get anywhere arguing about animals with him.

EVERY thread on this board involving animals, he pulls out the "devil wins" when you worship animals mumbo jumbo and then attempts to completely derail the thread. Old hat.

Don't confuse emotion and instinct. Pain isn't an emotion, it's physical suffering or distress. Fear is an instinct, i.e. fight or flight. Compassion? We can't know that animals feel compassion, that's merely anthropomorphizing.

Pack animals, and many animals that "mate for life" behave out of instinct. And will come to the aid of their packmates and mates. It is instinctual to protect the pack.

It's a lack of empathy. It's called apathy. Many leaders in this world have that mutant gene too.
It's a feeling of superiority over others. Animals included.

It really is a disability and if I had my way, I'd give them all handicap parking stickers so we could differentiate and stay away from them once they're in our personal space.

Grant it, I have deeper compassion for all animals than some for I am a vegetarian etc but I do not bestow my feelings onto others. But one thing that I do expect is world-wide respect for all living things. You can hunt and eat them and still have respect which Brief clearly doesn't. He thinks animals have no emotional feelings. And I say Brief should volunteer to live on Mars.
