I had just arrived at my beach house when two young, wet boys knocked on my door. The told me that they had found a baby seal on the beach and that I should help. I told them that the mother seals will leave the babies on the beach while she hunts for food. When my assurance of the seals safety was accepted by the boys, they left. Not a few minutes later I see a bald eagle swoop down on the baby seal, talons extended. The seal jerked up startling the eagle just enough for it to stop and land beside it. As I stood there I thought to myself, "Oh no, I just told those boys this seal would be fine, and now it's going to get killed in front of me." Suddenly off the left of the house came a crow. The crow landed between the bald eagle and the baby seal. As I watched, every time the eagle would rise to attack the seal, the crow would rise in response blocking the eagle from the seal. This went on for over 5 minutes and I snapped a couple of images. Eventually the eagle gave up and flew off. Squirrels are in fact cannibals. The video of the squirrel and the crow is a result of the squirrel protecting his meal. Squirrels will not hesitate to attack you either. You can talk about this animal and "Its feelings omg ;_;", but the point stands that squirrels do not have the same compassion as elephants. We were meant to live for so much more, have we lost ourselves? |

I use to shoot squirrels and leave them on the railroad tracks. I would wait for other squirrels to come pull them off the tracks. It was not to save them, they were eating the dead bodies I left behind. |

See recent reports of teaching dogs to drive as well. My pup's favorite thing to do is watch dog videos on youtube with me holding her in front of the computer monitor. You can see the little wheels turning in her tiny little head. She has an opinion on most of them. One of the most important aspects of conspiracy theories is being able to discern when there isn't one. Oh yeah, like you'd understand anyway. Feel better and bless you for having a tender heart. God will see the OP's empathy, and folks, remember this great line from Star Trek 4- " I don't know about you, but my compassion for someone is not limited to my estimate of their intelligence." I feed the birds and squirrels in my yard. One day I saw a squirrel low crawling on her belly, obviously injured. She couldn't get up on her hind legs to open a peanut, so everyday I saw her, I would shell the peanuts, and she would allow me to come closer, or she would low crawl towards me. I saw her getting stronger each time she came to eat, and one day, she got up on all fours and ran away. Her recovery took about a month. What a good feeling to see her well again. After that, she came to me everytime I called her. Now I have about four who come to the door to get the nuts I give them. One has no use of a front paw, but she does well. The females are more trusting than the males, but there is one male who comes to the door. I have some that I made friends with last year, a pregnant female who used to come to my windowsill and stretch out in the sun listening to Bach, eventually she brought her babies to meet me, now they come by a couple times a day for peanuts, along with the blue jay parents/babies. Very cool animals if you get to know them. |

Quoting: Anderson_G they are only what we have been shown as right and wrong by primary and secondary influences, just because you don't agree with what someone says doesn't make them wrong, am I wrong for being right or am I right for being wrong when I am right when I do something acceptable to myself and acceptable to society yet on the over side of the world I can be seen as doing it wrong as it goes against themselves and their own personal opinion There's an invisible line of humanity we all should possess and not cross over. It's not okay to torture animals nor is it okay to be a pedophile for instance. But according to your defense, it should be okay after all, those are only opinions and prerogatives too even though they go against my own. Maybe not as severe as the scenarios I presented above, looking down on animals is somewhere of the same mindset. We as a species should have reverence for all living things. THAT should be instinctual. I'm not saying to worship them nor not eat meat but to have this superiority complex over whats weaker, is not humane. It's arrogant and apathetic and according to our psyche, that is not normal. |
