How does anyone get "wood" from that picture?

um without test how can you say artificial?
wouldn't you say wood found on mars.
for all we know it could be a rock.
petrified wood is still stone

SOLID PROOF the rover is on EARTH somewhere...

give me one plausible secenerio of how a single plank of wood could end up on the surface of a desert?

give me one plausible explanation of how that thing could be a rock, and not wood!!

Do you see all the slab stones all over the place? All it would take is for one of them to fall over an eroded hill and expose one end and voila! I'd be much more interested in what is emitting or reflecting the light above the object just below the horizon.

looks like wood, but also is twisted like metal. very strange indeed...

and if y follow the grain it lines up with the other stone its just a patch of dark rock

IN a desert on earth, finding a sigle plank of wood is about as likely as finding any other piece of trash like a disgarded bottle. QUITE likely.

You need to get out of your basment more and look at some rocks

Yep, looks like someone dropped a log alright!

Its a much different color than the rest of the landscape.

It does resemble a decaying railroad tie, too.

I am also interested in the reflection further up in the picture.

Actually the object in the photo is consistent with sedimentary rock. Note the fine layering along the exposed edges. This can appear to be a wood grain, but is most likely layers of sediment. The reason I suggest this is that the surrounding geology is consistent with sedimentary deposit. Note the other fractured plates that litter the are. This merely appears to be one that has turned up on it's side through some natural process.

I would like to know, as well. It looks like something giving off energy, like a fire, but likely not fire.

Yeah, I can see a thingy that looks like a manhole cover, but I don't think I'll get hysterical about it. Because it's a ROCK.

sorry, thats a piece of stone from a sedimentary rock formation....

it does however prove water was once there to make that rock.....

While you are watching it, zoom the image. It is definitely not rock.
