It's one of the most dangerous geological zones in the world. If I lived there I would be seriously thinking about moving, yet many millions of people are jammed in there. With that population density it must be bumper-to-bumper people wherever you go, and living in constant danger from earthquakes. Yet there they stay. What's so great about Japan that anybody would want to live there? |

So it was just a very late aftershock of the Tohoku quake, and not enough tension is built up there to produce a M9.0. BTW, what many people STILL don't seem to get: A M9.0 is 1024 times stronger than a M7.0, so you can't really compare them even if the numbers seem close. |
