| Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 19175422 12/07/2012 04:30 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ive been playing through Far Cry 3, pretty awesome so far.. Is it just me or PC gaming is like nearly dead? I hadn't played in years, but I remember best buy having two whole aisles of pc games/software.. I went a couple of days ago and there was only like 1/10th of an aisle for PC games, and they were mostly ones that existed on consoles already.. It totally blew me away.. Not to mention they only have a handful of desktop PCs for sale, it's like the whole PC industry is being phased out.. |

The ArmA II mod DayZ (post apocalytic survival simulation with zombies - look it up on youtube) has created somewhat of a revival with many console players coming back to pc for it (it's a pc exclusive for the now but it will come to consoles if the standalone is successful) |

Not to mention they only have a handful of desktop PCs for sale, it's like the whole PC industry is being phased out.. Yup, unfortunately, the console market is taking over. I played a bit of the CoD franchise, and MW2 was a huge disappointment for the community and a herald of the changing trends. I just got my first console (since an Atari as a kid) recently (38 yrs old), a PS3, and "made the switch" and I can't say as I like it too much. I miss dedi servers the most. Mainly an FPS player myself, it's horribly disheartening to see the amount of cheating that goes on w/o dedi servers and the ability to mod in real time completely absent from consoles (also what they took out out last minute from MW2 fro PC). It's especially a shame since the PC community is essentially who made FPS's what they are today... It's all still fun, but times are a changin' :) I would have to say go with Skyrim. It's the "biggest" game out there for your dollar. As far as FPS's go, I'd still recommend the CoD series, but not sure if they went back to dedi's or not for PC's. I'm a tactical guy, but if you're down for the standard run and gun, I hear Black Op's 2 is pretty good. Also check into how they are now distributing their DLC for CoD. DLC used to be free and just came bundled w/ updates for PC's, but it wouldn't surprise me if they went for the almighty dollar and kicked that by the curb as well. I just looked into DLC for MW3 on the PS3, and the total cost was more than the original game. $130 total, to play a computer game, forget it... And on the grand scale, yes, PC's in general are going to phase out with the onslaught of smaller, portable devices. There are only niche fields that use something as "large" as a PC any more. Companies are realizing how little of the overall potential people actually use, and are now making units "scaled" for the average consumer, instead of powerhouses that CAN do all kinds of things but rarely if ever get used for anything more than internet surfing and gaming (that's why consoles are the "new" route). Best of luck to ya! :) |

Steam is the way to go. Lots of pc games that are good and more coming. Not dead at all :) |
