Press fear Obama private swearing in

The White House Correspondents Association is strongly urging the Obama administration to allow press access to the president’s official swearing-in ceremony on Jan. 20, following indications from White House aides that the event could potentially be closed to the press.

Transparency...guess O never learned the meaning of the word. No doubt there will be no real oath...as only a natural born citizen could take a real oath!

What the hell is this about?! You don't swear in a president privately. Even Johnson had press all around him on the plane after Kennedy was assassinated, and THAT WAS A DAMN EMERGENCY, for God's sake.

This is just like the last time. He flubs the first oath, then has his little private ceremony with an official photographer taking one picture. Now, we get an official swearing in, in private, and then, a bullshit formality swearing in that we get to see?

It's because he wants to swear on a Koran, or because Roberts knows he's not eligible and insists on some unconstitutional process for the "official" swearing in. There is no legitimate reason to swear a President of the United States in not in full view of the American People.

F*&^ this Kenyan. Do it on the steps of the Capitol and swear on the Holy Bible like the American Christian you say you are, and make that be the REAL ceremony, or it doesn't count.

They said it's tradition to hold a small private ceremony if the inauguration falls on a Sunday. Too lazy to look this one up but could be true.

Since it seems the purpose of a private swearing in is that the 20th falls on a Sunday this year, then why not forego the entire inauguration ceremony and ball that is scheduled for Monday to save the country the money; no one cares when it's a second term anyway. Since it's so conveniently on a Sunday this year, then why not just make the whole thing low key and have a Sunday swearing in ceremony attended by press, C-Span and whichever other news outlet wants to carry it, and then be done with it.

January 20th fell on Sunday, so Reagan was privately sworn in that day at the White House; public Inauguration on January 21st took place in the Capitol Rotunda, due to freezing weather

I'm not an Obama supporter but looks like Reagan did the same thing. I assume there were reporters there though.
