I am trying to unlearn much of what I know.

My opinion is this: Most people live in fear of failing. They are afraid people will laugh at them if they try something and it does not work. They fear looking stupid. So these people are paralyzed into doing not much of anything. To them it is much easier to let someone else make their decisions and if it fails then the person can blame it on the person they let make their decision for them.

People like this never amount to much of anything. There isn't anything that anyone cannot do if they put the effort into it, especially nowadays when all they have to do is google to get the instructions to do just about anything. It would have been much easier when I was growing up if I had Google or the internet.

If a person wants to do anything then they cannot be afraid to fail. They interviewed several billionaires and found out that everyone of them had tried several times to get rich only to fail and go bankrupt but in that failure they learned what not to do next time. Eventually they avoided the mistakes they had made in the past and success came and they became rich.

I guess what I am saying is what you think of as being "smart" is just people who were not afraid to fail. They are no smarter than me or you but they put in the time and effort to learn how to do whatever they are interested in.

....BUT that has been how EVERY society who wants to control its people works.....KEEP THEM FROM GETTING THE TOOLS.

I was chasing boys in school, so I didn't learn much...

That would have worked out OK too if you chased the smart ones....but alas...girls at that age have more hormones than brain cells.

School has sweet fuck all to do with intellect and intelligence.

First is you have to have an open mind. Next you have to be willing to challenge paradigms, but make sure you have your facts straight. You have to be able to take all criticism and understand that contructive criticism may alter your thoughts or position. Most importantly, you have to realize that the vast majority of people are caught up in a collective world and many will not even entertain a thought or theory which does not fall within there limited parameters, so in essence you may be "pissing in the wind" per se.

But there are a lot of intelligent people on here. In relation to the population, I'd say probably around 1 in 4 on this site are profound thinkers, whereas in the general population there may be 5 in a 100.

I have started reading more on topics of interest to me which opens further doors. Those new doors sometimes will make the connection of a theory click. It's really pretty cool. I used to hate to read as a kid and even in college.

Parochial school, the Nuns made you learn how to think, not what to think. That is the key!

Actually I think you may be right. By staying here one learns to read and digest vast amounts of data even if gibberish and that alone is like mental weight lifting. Thanks GLP!

The potential threat of getting smacked with a ruler may have helped as well. lol
