I guess I have to eat a bit of crow ... so I made the below video to clear up what we are looking at. I looked at it again and had to really zoom in and now I see it! Check out the 1:28 mark, it looks like it has a huge tail. From the above diagram, it does appear to be Earth directed. I don't see how we could ever miss seeing this in our skies, it looks huge.
