If so, call them and ask them about the protected status of your local fox population. The main problem you have is you have chicken and duck walking around openly. You need to give them a yard which is inclosed with chicken wire, that should extend at least 12 inches into the ground. This provides them with a safe enclosure. Yes you can let them out during the day, most fox hunt at nigh and really want at the sleeping fowl. Thus you keep your fowl in the enclosure at night. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25306942 A real fox is killing my ducks and chickens for quite a while now. I live in NY state. Can I legally do something about it? Do I need to have a hunting license? What are my options? Try putting down Wolf Urine in the area. A wolf is a larger predator to a fox. The fox will get a whiff and hightail it to a safer area.
