Not sure why Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19838784 Hmmm, I'm at the Jersey Shore (NJ, not PA), and saw a couple of very bright flashes in the sky (Northwestern) about 6:45, no sound just two or three bright, yellow flashes. Very bright, like lightening, but it wasn't lightening. | flash over Texas User ID: 29266466 12/07/2012 11:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | is it like the one that happened over Texas this morning? Thread: Flash in the whole sky - Central Texas |
| Red Wood (OP) User ID: 24032652 12/07/2012 11:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That's why I posted it, I had read the Texas thread this morning. I was completely weird. We were watching a movie when the power went out and the flash happened almost at the same time. My boy also reported a loud sound, but not something like an explosion. He said sonic boom, but I don't know if he would know what that sounds like. We heard something too, but not as clear as he seemed to. I jumped up and got to the front door to look outside. From our front door, we can see a pretty good distance as we're up on a hill. As far as I could see, lights were out. Being close to Christmas, normally I can see Christmas light several hills over. There was nothing. A few of my neighbors were also stepping outside. But in less than a minute, the lights were back on. We have a power line pretty close to the house and a small transformer on the pole in the front yard. They were buzzing pretty good as power was coming back on and for a few minutes after. Again, we don't usually hear the lines at all. I'm not sure if it's normal for them to buzz as power comes back to a line. Any line workers want to shed some light on that? (see what I did there?) Anyway, we've been looking on news sights for any reports, but so far nothing. Sometimes it takes a very motivated beaver to get things done. But that's redundant. |
