Cook on med high and keep adding water until they are tender. Next, place the tomatoes and/or tomato paste into a medium mixing bowl and add a little water until it becomes soupy...Make sure you squash the tomatoes real well. They should only be small chunks of tomato in the mixture. Add the soupy mixture to the onions and garlic. If the Port Sausage are links, fry and slice them. If it is ground sausage, fry it until done, like hamburger meat. You can also fry some of the bacon and tear in small pieces to add a little more flavor Once the meat is cooked, the onions and garlic are tender, combine with all ingedients together. If the mixture is too soupy, you can toast the bread and tear them into small pieces to help firm the mixture. Adding egg is optional. I add egg in my meatloaf and it also helps keep the mixture together along with the bread crumbs. Cook on 400 degrees in the oven until brown. As far as lettuce, I am not sure what to use it for. Maybe a garnish? Last Edited by Deb1964 on 12/08/2012 12:26 AM Deb |
