Re: I am a catholic apologist... ask me a question
The difference between you and I is I do not try and convert anyone to any particular denominational belief. Including catholocism.

The only religion that pleases the Father is those who look after prphans and widows in distress. And to keep oneself from being polluted from the world.

This is pretty loud and clear.

Jesus explained it very well with the parable of the good samaritan.

When answering the expert in the law.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16198217

16198217 I respectfully disagree, are we not called to share the Gospel, what happens to those who have the fullness of truth and do not share it? If Jesus is the truth i have to defend the faith and share the faith. I believe in absolute truth, not subjective truth. Thank you for your comments.
 Quoting: Monkey Breath

So do you believe that someone can be saved without being catholic? Or have any affiliation with the catholic church?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16198217

Who is saved is Gods decision alone, I do know Catholics can go to heaven. We pray everyday for everyone's salvation.

Re: I am a catholic apologist... ask me a question
Christians ask Mary to pray for them. We call it the communion of saints. They are alive in heaven, and so we ask them to pray us.
 Quoting: Monkey Breath

Thank you for answering. The reason I asked is because I don't understand why you do.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16198217

Wow a nice person asking a question, how refreshing!
I would like to add that I do not understand why some Christians are in disagreement with this. They seem to claim that we need only go to Jesus and yet they ask each other for prayers. We are all here to help each other out especially those who are in heaven who are now with Jesus. They are especially helpful and rejoice in helping us.

Re: I am a catholic apologist... ask me a question
And what is the gospel (The Good News)?

Yes, We agree that is the word for Good News

The message? And what does it have to do with being catholic?

Catholic is a term describing the Church. It means the Church is for all the world, That is not the Churches official name, its official name is just the Church. Due to schism in the Church, the name has been applied to those who remained in Communtion with one another.

The early church went from house to house breaking bread. And joyous, singing praises unto The Lord. In their homes.

Yes, True but they persecuted early on, once the persecutions were over, they built churches immediately.

How is it, if you claim to be the one true church, it has strayed so far away from the simplicity of the early church written of in doctrine?

You see the Church today after 2000 years and over a billion people within it. Of course it should look different. Just as the acorn becomes the Oak tree, it is still the same acorn.

Yes, I agree very much with your thoughts. If anyone is fully alive, it would be the Saints in Heaven. God loves his family and wants us to think and pray for one another. These are my own personal thoughts on the matter.

Re: I am a catholic apologist... ask me a question
Proof that Roman Catholicism is witchcraft-

Doc Marquee has written a book, which is being published by American Focus Publishing Company, entitled "Secrets of the Illuminati". While this topic has been explored before, no author has been able to bring a truly occultic angle to the discussion. In other words, Marquee looks at the plan to bring in the New World Order from the viewpoint of a former witch. In his book, Marquee includes a chapter entitled, "Is It Catholicism Or Witchcraft?" At the beginning of this chapter, Marquee makes a quite startling statement, "I must emphatically state that Catholicism and witchcraft are one and the same...there is no difference between witchcraft and Catholicism." Then, Marquee examines Catholicism and witchcraft from the vantage point of a former witch.

Marquee identifies several critically important areas in which the practice of Roman Catholicism and witchcraft are identical. We will first list these areas of commonalty and then comment specifically upon them. These common areas are:

The altar

The golden goblet known as a chalice.

Colored candles used in services

The use of incense.

The use of bells in the ceremony.

Praying to statues.

The use of Latin in services.

The use of a golden scepter in giving a large blessing to the people.

Common belief in Purgatory

The common belief in the host.

Common belief in the five elements.

Now, let us examine each of these areas of commonalty:

1. The altar in every Catholic church is prominently positioned at the front of the church. The "Mysteries of the Mass" are celebrated on and around the altar. In witchcraft, also, the altar is similarly used for three purposes:

To practice certain metaphysical rites, such as the casting of certain spells or to honor occult deities.

To hold the tools of magic.

To perform human sacrifice.

The Roman Catholic altar also holds their tools of their magic, and they daily perform human sacrifice. Remember, we are looking at this subject through the eyes of a former high-level witch who is now a born-again Christian. This daily human sacrifice is performed according to the false belief in "transubstantiation", the belief that the priest magically transforms the wafer into Jesus' body and the wine into His blood. Marquee states, "In other words, every day Christ is being reincarnated and then sacrificed.. they perform daily their human sacrifice in which Christ is ...sacrificed for their sins." It is shocking to realize that the Roman Catholics are daily performing human sacrifice in a manner similar to that of witches throughout the centuries.

2. The Catholic Golden Goblet, or Chalice. "It is this cup that the wine poured into it becomes the...literal blood of Christ. When a witch does a human sacrifice, after the victim's throat is sliced open, the spilled blood will be collected in a chalice, just as the Catholics do, except the witch's chalice holds the real thing." In Satan's eyes, the Catholics are performing the same rite as the witches.

3. "Candles were introduced to the Catholic mass about 320 A.D. There is no Scriptural reasons for them, unless... you are a practicing witch. Below is a list of different colored candles a witch would use throughout the year. See if you can recall any of these colors used during a Catholic mass:
White -- Purity, Truth, Sincerity
Red -- Strength, Health, Vigor, Sexual Love
Light Blue -- Tranquillity, Understanding, Patience
Dark Blue -- Impulsiveness, Depression, Change
Green -- Finance, Fertility, Luck
Gold/Yellow -- Persuasion, Charm, Confidence
Brown -- Hesitation, Uncertainty
Pink -- Honor, Love, Morality
Black -- Evil, Loss, Discord, Confusion
Purple -- Tension, Ambition, Power
Silver-Gray -- Cancellation, Stalemate
Orange -- Encouragement, Stimulation
Greenish-Yellow -- Sickness, Anger, Jealousy
"Using these colored candles and the right spells, a witch can cause anything to happen...our Catholic friends are not only using these occult tools, they also pay for them when they go to various statues and light...candles."

4. "Incense is a constant tool that is used by priests. They will take a philter (incense burner), walk around the altar, and then wave it out toward the crowd with an invocation...Not only do witches use incense, but they will consecrate their altar and their fellow witches in the exact way the Catholics do..."

5. Bells are also utilized by both Roman Catholics and witches. The bells are actually baptized, and in both witchcraft and Catholicism, altar boys attend the priest in sounding the bells.

6. Witches were praying to images or statues for many centuries before Catholics began the practice.

7. "Until recently, most of the rites of witchcraft were said in Latin...why is it, when the witches stopped using Latin as much as they did, about twenty years ago, that the Catholic mass was stopped being told in Latin? Today, it is spoken mostly in American English, the same way in which a witch's mass is held."

8. "...when the Pope, Cardinals, or priests want to give a huge blessing, they will take out a golden scepter, or wand, dip it in holy water, and then wave it on the people...wands are nothing new in the occult. When a witch wants to direct his power he can do it by means of wands." He can also control the demonic forces at his disposal by using a wand to consecrate a circle with a pentacle inside. Holy water is also used by a witch to purify himself and his instruments, and the water is made holy in both witchcraft and Catholicism by mixing water with salt.

9. The teaching of Purgatory is not found in the Bible. According to Catholic catechism, Purgatory is described as "a logically deduced place. Since a Catholic could not go straight to heaven if he had sinned, and since he could not go to hell if he had not died in mortal sin, there had to be a place in between where he could be purified" --

Purgatory. However, the belief in Purgatory is "totally occultic in origin". Witchcraft teaches that after a person goes through Purgatory, he is reincarnated and is more powerful in his next life than he was before. After several reincarnations, he will become purified enough to live with the gods and goddesses, precisely the same end as the Catholics teach.

10. Both Catholics and Witches teach that the host becomes the actual body of their respective gods. To the Roman Catholic, the host becomes the actual body of Jesus Christ; the witch believes the host actually becomes the body of their pagan deity, " I.H.S. -- or Iris, Horus, and Semiramis". This concept is known in both circles as transsubstantiation.

11. Both witchcraft and Roman Catholicism teach that the universe is comprised of five elements: Spirit, Water, Air, Fire, and Earth. These occultic five elements are also found in the Catholic mass.

Spirit -- of the wafer god they sacrifice daily.
Water -- Holy water they use to purify and baptize
Air -- symbolically used through the incense
Fire -- used in tangent with the incense burning
Earth -- The elements of the wafer come from the earth in agriculture, and the flesh of their sacrificed deity, Jesus Christ, also came from the earth.

Doc Marquee's conclusion is inescapable and damning: The practice of occultism has come full circle from ancient Babylon to the Roman Catholic Institution today. As Jesus counseled in Revelation 18:4, "Come out of her, my people, that you do not participate in her sins, neither in her plagues".

Why is it, that I have absolutely no affiliation with catholocism, yet I know and have witnessed GOD's grace. mercy and forgiveness in my life? His resoration and reconciliation to me when I did not deserve it?

Not just catholocism but any denomination for the matter?

Just a desperate person with an open heart in search for Him and His truth.

To know Him, to love Him. A desperate plea for help when no one else could help me?

It is wonderful that you have found the Lord and love him. All who seek find.
Our point is this: You know of the Good News because of the Church. You have a bible although missing 7 books that Martin Luther took out. Yet there is so much more that God wants you to have. It is your inheritance and you deserve to have it all. You dont have to give up anything, but are able to receive even more than you could imagine. God's grace comes to us all, it is up to us to accept that Grace.

Also, we are commanded to pray for others.

What I don't understand is I have never seen or have read anywhere in scripture to pray to anyone else other than GOD the Father, Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit.

I have never read anywhere in scripture to say repetative prayer as in our Father's and hail Mary's for the forgiveness of sin.

I don't understand all of the flashy robes and emphisis on large cathedrals, statues, wealth.

The Church is very jewish, because it is the continuation of Israel. Priest's with vestments, altars, incense etc.

Some of those practices are found in those books missing from your bible that Luther removed in the 16th century. 3/4 of all Christians still have those books, All Christians would have known of them during the first 1500 years.

As for the rosary, We pray it while contemplating various stories of the Gospel.
It isnt vain repetition, but very loving repetition. I suppose you tell your wife you love her more than once in a day.

Judge lest ye be judged...I think it's counter productive to argue amongst ourselves regardless of the denomination we choose or have been raised in. It weakens the Body of Christ.
I have personally been in a Catholic Church, Inter-denominational and have been raised by a parent who was raised as a Jehovah's witness, so I feel I can speak on this to some degree.
My faith is deep. I feel connected in my soul to each and every catholic (small "c" denotes the Church universal, the definition of catholic) passed or living. It's just how I feel.
I love God the Father, his Son, my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ so much, I yearn, to be in His Holy Presence. I call upon the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit, daily to guide me and my family in our thoughts, words and deeds.
I am not perfect. I am a sinner, but that does not diminish how I feel and how I try to practice my faith daily. I have to dust myself off every morning and start anew. I could not do that without Christ's Holy Sacrifice on Golgotha.
I personally look to heaven with hope to share in God's Glory with all my Christian brother's and sister's some day, possibly soon. On that Glorious Day when all division is past we shall sing God's praise regardless of which church door we walk into on our day of worship. Of this I pray.
Let us rejoice in Christ's victory over sin in this Holiday Season and not be divided.
God's Peace and a Merry Christmas to all hear on GLP.

Protestantism is dying out in Europe, the reformation is over there. In America protestantism (broad term) is now below 50% for the first time in our history.

The Catholic Church is actually growing, but in America we have lost thousands, due to poor religious formation and modernism.

All I have to say is one of us is right the other wrong. I go by what Jesus Christ says. Not a tradition based by men. I guarantee that many who are Catholics don't even take the bible and seek knowledge for themselves. If they did they would realize that what they teach and what Jesus taught are completely different. He said about many they praise with their lips but there heart is far from me. Seek in spirit and truth. Everything else is garbage. Because everything that the lord spoke was spiritual.

Fair enough Semper fi, we both can't be right about our faith. God Bless

I have noticed Monkey, you and the other catholics on here have defended their faith in a very fair and respectful manner. Very commendable

God Bless Brother

Just Know I did not mean any disrespect so I apologize if that's what it sounded like. I hope Jesus is the one that leads you not culture, custom or tradition. Be blessed.

Brother, I suspect we both know what hell looks like. Nothing is more important than sharing our faith. I know you love the Lord, God Bless

Re: I am a catholic apologist... ask me a question

I agree with you, most of the things that Christians argue over are very human things. I also had a very enlightening experience which showedme that God does not see the separations and divisions that we see. God loves everyone and wants us all to be united and to love each other that is the most important thing. God will not judge us for what we do not understand but will bless all those sincerely seeking the truth with His grace no matter what.
