Ok, the "let's play the common sense game" update above really helped me understand this a lot better, OP. Unfortunately, astronomy was never easy for me and I still have a couple of questions if you don't mind.

Let me see if I am at least somewhat correct at this point:

You are able to prove there is "something" out there that is pulling away from the sun and that when the earth orbits around and gets in the range of the something, it's like a big giant magnet out there and it reacts to earth's magnet and so earth get's a little out of whack which causes earthquakes, dying fish and wildlife, aurora lights, etc. here.

Do I have that at least kinda right? :)

If so, then my question is... what does this mean? If the "something" is pulling away, wouldn't that lessen the effects on earth each year? Or is it gonna somehow pull us along with it? I understand that this has already caused serious events, but is there something worse coming? Or?

Sorry, I don't want to seem dumb, but I do want to understand.
