Its not really them. Its the demons inside them that constantly blaspheme and mock god. Athiests have to spend most thier time and energy trying to supress and contain this hate in order to maintain there ability to function in society around christians.

I dislike the Abrahamic religions that teach one group is better than everyone else. And everyone else goes to Hell. How dumb. But I'm not an atheist either. There are many of us that see religion for what is, an instrument of control. Yet we still stand in awe at the mystery of creation. You can believe in God, and leave religion behind, in the Middle Ages, where it belongs.

Next time you get robbed, or beaten up, or have your identity stolen, or whatever....remember to thank the perp for being so religious....

But to answer your question. Some people go the atheist route because their life has been complete utter hell and they can't believe why any god would allow such a thing. It's likely they've just grown to hate life in a way; you suffer and suffer then shit just ends. What's to be happy about? Maybe this is your friends' problem?

Of course, there's the complete opposite too. If things just end and this is just it, it'll make some atheists do better, be better, be nicer, because THIS IS IT.
