Why are atheists so repulsive?

For claiming to be part of a religion that teaches compassion and forgiveness, you exhibit neither. Just because you know a few atheists that are abrasive doesn't mean they all are. That's a human condition, not a religions (or lack thereof) condition. I could name more than a few people from all religions that haven't been great people.

Its not like that. Some atheists believe our consciousness survives our physical body. We live forever, born again and again for as long as we like. There is some evidence this true.

We are not punished or rewarded for what we do. That is a vile notion. As we live and learn we develop EMPATHY, the basis of a much finer morality than "thou shalt not or I will torture you for all eternity! I already tortured my innocent son for you! "

There is no god of punishment and reward. There is no god commanding and forbidding. There is no god demanding reverence or worship or sacrifice.

There may be only us. Us and aliens. Just people. Who live forever. Who have lived as animals and fish and dinosaurs and sea things and slugs and single celled creatures and minerals...who knows where the ancient minerals of our bodies were 100 years before we were born?

Even if this consciousness ends after death, life and consciousness are great mysteries. There is a great deal of wonder and contemplation in a worldview without gods. There is also beauty and grace. And morality and ethics and love and compassion. But very little fear of monsters and demons and other peoples sexual activities stirring up hurricanes...

i don't find atheists repulsive.. they just don't believe in an after life.. either they're right or wrong.. like the rest of everyone.....
