I find listening to Praise and Worship music really moves me and draws me nearer to the Holy Spirit and Jesus. We have a great local radio station (KTIS 98.5) They have online listening as well. | Anonymous Coward User ID: 29348293 United States12/08/2012 10:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Two weeks ago, lying in bed, lamenting the state of my life, the wilderness I've wandered in like Moses in the desert, the mistakes, the series of decisions I've made that have kept me trapped in purgatory, living in one of the most hellishly awful places in the country, crushed by addiction, squandering every opportunity I've had to extricate myself from this place, I just gave in... Quoting: Super Bowl Dave I asked for Jesus to save me and confessed my belief He is my savior (I've asked this before in my life, years ago, but you never really know if it works or not, do you? Did you do it right the first time, were you sincere enough, did He really listen? Did He know in your heart you didn't really mean it?). I asked for the white light of the Holy Spirit to protect me and this house, and for all evil spirits and demonic energies to begone. I asked for my sins to be forgiven. I asked to be cleansed. I asked for guidance. Well, it's been about two weeks, and little has changed and at times I've completely forgotten that I gave myself to the Lord and that I am, technically, a Christian. I suppose going to church might be a step in the right direction. Maybe a public display, a baptism, a confession before a congregation of believers? You don't need church to have a healthy relationship with God. There is one thing you must remember if you're feeling like nothing has happened or you haven't been heard. God doesn't give anyone anything. He gives us the opportunities to attain it for ourselves. It is purely up to us to recognize those opportunities and take them. The lies one must tell himself to not feel completely and utterly retarded for talking to himself. When you look to Jesus for guidance you are doing nothing more than peeking into your soul and begging yourself for forgiveness. When you understand you control your destiny and no one else, you will start to see a change. Flashmob, you need to repent and be saved; when you do, you'll experience joy you've never known. God is behind the scenes, controlling our destinies, whether we ask Him to or not. But the more we give of ourselves to Him, the more light and joy He will give in our lives. He opens and closes doors. You do not control your destiny. The Lord works in everyone's life, and when you give your life to Him, He opens the doors He wants you to go through, and closes the doors where He does not want you to go. God is real, and you will be able to manage life far, far better and more successfully if you will give Him the Sovereignty over your life. It's the most important thing you can do in this life. Without Him, you will die in your sins. |

SBD--you are loved and peeps obviously care for you... I agree w Lisa--talk to God and/or Jesus... and listen... sometimes the things that may occur to you that seem like answers are funny or helpful... I also like the Lord's prayer and say it often... asking in Jesus' name is also powerful when faced with negativity or need for clarity... ask repeatedly in Jesus' name--this is a form of intent and sincerity... but you have to be patient and trust in God's plan for you... sounds like you are doing the right things... gratitude feels right as well--appreciating the simple profundity of awareness and that you have the opportunity to serve others every day--which is how we will be judged... this is a direct connection to God you can have every day... just being kind to others and expressing love for people in whatever way you can... lastly, watch others--I always like Walter Veith's presentations on youtube and learn a lot, in addition to being inspired... Mark Cleminson and Roger Morneau are also inspirational... if you want to go to church pray for guidance and try to find a small church... but reading the new testament is also very helpful... be blessed! :) |
