From what I have heard and read, the military in Egypt is respected and trusted as representative of the average people... much moreso than the police, who have long been regarded as crooked.
Quoting: goodmockingbird For sure. Egypt's army is conscripted. With few exceptions, males are required to serve, so it's composed of fathers, sons, brothers, cousins, nephews, etc., and everyone is related to someone in the army so it's almost a familial bond. Not only that, it's purpose is to protect the country. Who wouldn't appreciate that? Quoting: AWFEKKIT Morsi took lot of powers off the military and kicked out a lot of top chiefs in a clash back in summer didn't he?
