The way I see it, the actual problem is not necessary the muslims in Brussels (although the root of the problem can be traced back to them as well), but first and foremost this is the responsibility of the city leaders. And Brussels is not just the capital of Belgium, it is the symbolic capital city of the European Union. If it was just the Belgians problem, I wouldn't give a flying rats ass, but this is, although in a symbolic way, a message to all Europeans, Christians or not. A clear message that the leaders don't care about the Christians, just the 'sensibility' of anything that has nothing to do with the cultural roots of Europe. They want to wipe out everything with a cultural background. Living in a country that suffered under the rule of the soviet union, this is all very familiar to me. The slogan of the commies was to wipe out the past. Just read their anthem, the internationale, they sung it at every occasion.

'Of the past let us make a clean slate'

'There are no supreme saviours
Neither God, nor Caesar, nor tribune.'

[link to en.wikipedia.org]

this is their motto. And if we look around in the EU institutions, we can still find many commies. Best example is José Manuel Barroso, who is the president of the EU commission, which is the quasi executive power of the union. He started his political career in the portguese workers communist party. And many others can be found... Oh, and the name union. I can't really see the difference anymore between a soviet union, and now an other union. The soviet union failed in 1991, and right after the European Union was founded ( cause it was called european communities before). The symbol of the SU was a red star, the symbol of the new union is a yellow star... they can't even come up with new things.

So to summarize my little rant, I think the problem is much bigger here in Europe than it might seem...

thank you. I wish there was no reason for me to write these down. I could fill pages with my anger. which is more of a sorrow, but seeing this madness, it spirals down to anger.

I'm not a big fan of islam, but in this case I see them as some kind of scapegoat. City officials say they don't want to offend muslims, so that's why they don't put up a Christmas tree. Okay, but they don't refer to any request being made from the muslim community, where they say they will be offended by seeing a Christmas tree. the town leaders just kind of decided by themselves it would do so. Again, I'm not defending muslims here, cause I personally see it as a very deceptive religion at least in the way it is interpreted and practiced today, but here, in this particular case it's not their fault that such things could happen in the 'capital' of the EU, they are just blamed for it. Of course it is easier for city leaders to point fingers at them, than taking the responsibility for their actions. They hope this way they don't have to show their true faces.
But this brings up an other question. How did so many muslims could even get into Europe? Well one aspect are the employment contracts decades ago between some european and some muslim countries (Turkey for example) inviting in foreign workers, and then they could stay. That would've been ok, but then there came other european laws, granting for family reunification, and immigration and asylum laws which basically let anybody enter Europe. I know there are many other factors too, this is just the very basic legal background of how muslims could enter in big numbers. Into the Europe, which was fighting against the Ottoman Empire just a few centuries ago. Or maybe it wasn't really? Here, in schools we learn about how our nation was fighting against the ottomans for a long time, but then after a while we just couldn't hold them back any longer, and we fell under a 150 years of turkish rule as well. what is not emphasized in schools, but as many historians point out is the fact that the papacy made pacts with the ottomans. The pope didn't care about the lives of millions of christians back then, just as he doesn't care these days either. and I'm saying these as somebody who was born and raised catholic. But the only thing connecting me to Catholicism is that i really like and enjoy traditional catholic hymns, I have a respect for the Virgin Mary and the Saints, but that is all. I have not much respect for the institution of the papacy as it is now, and during its history.
But back to muslims... for centuries we fought to keep them out of Europe, and now there are millions of them in the continent. But they are used as tools. The leftist leaders of Europe use them to wipe out the tradition of Europe. Of course they start with oppressing and abolishing Christian traditions, because after the spread of liberalism it is already weak. A big number of Europeans are atheists. Of course they can freely choose to be so, so I won't go into why I see this as tragic now... So as I see it, first the internationalist left-wingers are trying to abolish everything that is Christian in Europe. They first used dialectic materialism, and other philosophical teachings to turn people away from faith. It worked quite well, but still, lot of people resisted, and stayed with their Christian traditions. So they had to come up with something else. Muslims came handy, because they're quite an aggressive bunch, so commies can refer to concerns about muslims being offended by Christian symbols, so more pious and peaceful Europeans would rather see their symbols being banned than having this aggressive group throwing a fit. But again, in this particular case, they didn't even, at least not officially asked for this. But seemingly, nobody cares about this. But I really feel offended by the absence of the Christmas tree. Do the leaders of Europe care? no need to answer... But now I'm absolutely sure that once they finished off Christianity, their next target will be islam, because leftists have no faith in any god.
but 2 decades passed since the fall of the soviet union, and the leaders of europe are still international liberals and commies. this is an even bigger problem than the muslims. because if we had real leaders with respect to European values we wouldn't even be having problems with muslims slowly growing into a majority in some regions.
and I know many people come up with the argument that the Christmas tree has pagan origins. but does it matter? it is not worshiped by anybody, it is merely a symbol that people of the Christian faith can relate to. People don't make sacrifices, don't dance in circles around it, or do any such pagan rites. This pagan card is also mostly used to turn people away from traditions.

And an other thought about the red star/yellow star thing... The leftist forces of the world are trying really hard to make the white star of the US join into this red star/yellow star 'union' too, and they are really doing a good job with this. Maybe in the background it has already happened. But please don't let them achieve their goal in turning the US into a socialist state. It is one of the biggest lies of human history, that it's for the benefits of anybody...
