It is not just Christians. It seems to be endemic with religiosity. If you put any two similar but slightly different superstition groups beside each other, they will develop mistrust and hatred. They never, ever, look at their similarities and ignore every part of their teachings about peaceful coexistence. It is actually proof of the failure of religion. It creates discord, then is unable to live up to its own teachings about resolution of discord.

In other words, the problem is people. The rest of your words are either incorrect or extraneous.

It is a failure of religion. Because religions do not take into account the realities of the human condition. In the case of Ireland even though the two religions work for the same god they do not have mechanisms to mend discord between them. In fact the religion differences will be whipped up to control the peoples behavior. In the absence of religion the people of Ireland would only have normal tribalistic competition between them.

Religion is an idea, ideal, concept, etc... People are responsible for their own actions, notions are not. Get a grip.

As is the case in USA not everyone who calls himself is a Christian. That fight isn't about religion, it's about nationalism.
