It's not just her. My wife doesn't have any friends either. All she wants to do is sit at home and stare at the damn TV like a vegetable. When I go out and have fun, I end up feeling guilty. Even when I take her out,dinner, movie or a nice walk, she doesn't seem to have fun.

You are being used, simply put. Be a man, quit bitching, and go bowling.

Seriously? I am a woman and former wife (widow). I always encouraged my husband to go out and hang with his male friends. They could commiserate with each other and then realize that they really didn't have it so bad. A wife who doesn't understand this as an important tool is an idiot. She needs to go out once in awhile and do the same with her girlfriends. If she doesn't have any then I would say she has major insecurity issues.

Just go out! Give her some notice but don't "ask" for permission. Just say a couple of days beforehand "Jerry and the guys and I are getting together for bowling so you won't need to cook for me on Friday".

If your mother is discouraging it then she probably has issues she needs to address too such as she might have been cheated on but that is not YOUR problem or issue.
