Quoting: Anonymous Coward 12727906 Furthermore, isn't it moving away from the sun? It's just now passing perihelion. Comets can come from any direction, it's not at all unusual to see them highly inclined to the ecliptic or even in retrograde orbits. ![]() |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18622835 I rewatched your rebuttal video.......awesome graphics, BTW------are you saying the "distortion" you talk of is the reason the comet is coming at a steep angle? And is Swan supposed to be coming in at that steep angle. No, actually the 136.39480 degree inclination is why it is coming in at a steep angle to the ecliptic. I'm an English major, Dr. Astro----------complex math and astronomical terms are beyond me (Sorry. And be patient, please)------------------ The inclination you speak of----is that in relation to the camera/camera angle? Or just the way it moves through the sky? Explain it in layman's terms, please, for a "novice." It's the inclination to the earth's orbital plane, the ecliptic. Wikipedia has a pretty good diagram of it: [link to en.wikipedia.org] Thanks for the link. I will read it. |

The fact that ACs with no knowledge on space and a big imagination think something is up when someone like Dr. Astro who clear has a lot of knowledge on space has brought this to light. Astro also uses gubment websites for his rebuttle. True. The thing is, if you are of a conspiracy mind, government sites may lie. It's interesting that those who are of a conspiracy mind refuse to believe government sources, but they'll believe almost anything anybody else says with little-to-no evidence. Actually, I truly follow the dictum of this site at the bottom of the page----------don't believe anything you read on this site. It's also that I don't tend to trust the Government telling me what's what either. I was simply replying to the person above who seemed to be placing trust in Gov. sites. |
