Italy has more influence in Europe. A split would be the economic end of Italy and Europe. Greece x 10, yes.
A return to the "Lira" after the Euro experience would be disastrous for everyone.

I live in north-west, but i feel myself as Italian, not "Padano". Uh, do you people know the existence of "Padania"? Well, Lega Nord want a secession, with a new state called Padania.

Before the euro, a normal salary was well above a million lire. There were, of course, many billionaires.

The core issue is the antiquated system, in bad need of reforms. I mean profound structural reforms, not of the kind so far seen or even discussed. So, this appears for all practical purposes to be a no go. Apparently, too many people have vested interests in the status quo.

Banning reforms, devaluation becomes necessary.

Banning both reforms and devaluation results in massive economic destruction, as we are seeing today. And in loss of sovereignty, as we shall see soon if things go on like this a bit more.

A recipe of more taxes and more public spending is a disaster. SB is a disaster too, just milder.

There is no option for a real solution on the table. And pain cannot be avoided. But the strategy pursued so far is just making things a lot worse than necessary.

I'm speechless. This is the best Italy can do? Why won't sombody stand up and fight? Maybe because they will turn into Aldo Moro.

The fix is in. It's been it for 30 years.

You said it man. The dice are loaded and the deck is stacked. The house always wins. Maybe Italy can shoehorn in another Goldman Sachs adviser.

There are many reasons. You mentioned one. Also, there is really no one who has a clue about the core problems. All discussions are just about the next tax and who exactly will have to pay it.

Even if someone were smart enough to understand the problem and brave enough to try fix it, the situation is so grave and entangled that the chances of success are next to none.

Structural reforms would do away with privileges and vested interests of A LOT of people. It´s really unlikely that they´d just sit there and watch...

that's it, the bankster is gone, what now? personally I hope that Euro crash like hell..............

the only hope to stop this evil plan called Euro is a huge crash started by a major country, Italy could be it....or France.....
