Good for you OP. What you're aiming for is true freedom, get as far from "civilization" as possible, but remember, it's hard work to be free, the hardest of all, hopefully you will be strong enough not to fall.

Firstly, congratulations on quitting your job. I know how it feels if you do something you do not really enjoy but you have to do it to pay your bills. it sucks and it feels like a giant vampire sucking all of joy out of your life.

I think a very minority of the people have jobs they really enjoy. I mean we cannot all be millionaires or movie stars, but think it the other way.
If everyone would quit doing what they are doing the system would collapse.
No one would work at garbage disposal for example or in the energy plants, or just as plumber or farmer.
Everything would go to shit and anarchy. No police nor medical support would be available.

So i like the idea of bowing out BUT I think everyone should do something productive and contribute something positive to the society or his tribe - if you see it this way.

sure you can live a simplicistic life but what will you do with all your time then?
maybe you will become a philosopher?
who knows. that was just my thaughts on this.

I did the same thing 2 years ago except on a sailboat. Been anchored off tropical beaches diving for lobster. When shtf ill just sail over the horizon.

Im 9k up in the southern rockies. My advice, bring good socks, layers and learn to shoot a bow. Also long prepping meat for jerky is a must. You might be able to harveat some quinoa down there. Great and healthy food source.
