Much prefer life when I was younger. people do not talk to each other now, travel anywhere (bus, train etc) most have earphones on.Technology is moving so fast this decade that the social impact is that people now have their own individual worlds and have no care for others, Why do they post most if not all what they do and think on social media sites, facebook, twitter etc.

People of this decade have hardly any practical skills like cooking fron stratch, fixing broken items and yet show them a new phone etc and they know it all.

How long before they all have implants?

Bring back the days when you could have a meaningful conversation and actually make new friends or lovers without some kind of profiling from dating sites etc.

We all need to talk and interact with each other to save the next generation becomeing technology zombies.

Peace to all and a Merry Christmas.

That's because after the 90s, everything from music to movies became shitty. Even kids today are into retro stuff.

Some say that living in the past causes depression, living in the future causes anxiety, and living in the present leads to happiness, but I never personally understood what living in the present mean and how to. I live in the past and future, and am depressed and anxious.

Agreed.

I am also depressed and anxious.

Nothing in my life has turned out the way I wanted or expected.

When I was in my 20's, I was hopeful. There was still time for anything wonderful to happen. It seemed back then that I believed that things would work out because there was plenty of time for that.

Now, in my late 30s, I am jaded. I am seeing the forest for the trees. It is what it is, and there's not much that's going to change. The writing is on the wall and I am having a hard time accepting it.

So now to the part about those that live in the present. HOW DO YOU DO THAT? How do I not wallow in what could have been and not worry about what might happen?

Nostalgic for 80's Japan? I can understand that...

Japanese were on Top Of The World until things cratered in the mid-90s.

What I'm bummed about these days is the demise of Western Civilization. There is nothing that can pass for CULTURE in our era.

Pop music and other current genres is just no longer of any quality. Classical and 50s Jazz is about as dependable as I have found. Have really enjoyed listening to the great singers of the 40s into the 60s. Lots of youtube music you can't find anywhere else.

Hearing the fantastic performers and their great music and vocal range is literally amazing. Been a longtime since and to think we took so much for granted...

Living in the present is making the most of what you're doing right now. Talk to people you meet instead of passing them by on the way to somewhere. That's the biggest tell sign of a person who lives in the present. You meet them from time to time. The guy sitting next you on the bus who strikes up a conversation like he's known you forever.

That's the guy who appreciates the little garden somebody planted next to the bus stop that nobody else even notices is there. Make the most of now.

If you talk to most strangers they'll brush you aside and don't care for you especially in cities. Sometimes you walk by somebody and simply say "hi" and they don't even acknowledge you. That's the difference with Americans. Maybe Canadians are much nicer and friendlier, the stereotype must be true.

They exist everywhere, they're just rare. I used to vacation in the US quite a bit. I met all kinds of those type of people there. The last one I remember was talking to a black guy at a BART stop in Oakland. For some reason he just wanted to talk about his job and his kids. They're around.
