Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.

Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.

Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5

Have a joyful Christmas season, you guys!

Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.

i am so sorry about this. i can tell you that there is pain in this world. lots of it sometimes. suffering is a part of this existence. but, what you do with it is the lesson part.

i remember a time when i had so much loss coming at me at the same time i almost lost all faith.

i had a business that was struggling. at the same time my son was going thru a rebellious stage and wrecked my car and another (which i had to pay for both). simultaneously i crashed on the harley and got really banged up - i mean really banged up. THEN, my daughter got sick and i was told it was leukemia. i still had to go to work to support my family (i am a single mom who had a business AND a day job).

so get this picture...
i am covered in road rash from head to friggin toe and still had to drag my ass to work, while in between visit my (then we thought) dying daughter at the hospital, while keeping a business going, and dealing with my son who refused to go to school, and trying to keep my failing business from going into the shitter, while trying to pay my mortgage, and on and on and on...

in the meantime, i was getting sick myself. found myself very exhausted and not able to do the things that i was used to being able to do. go to see doc and find out i have a form of muscular dystrophy (adult onset) and was told i would be in a wheelchair within the next 5 yrs.

no help from babies daddy or anybody else for that matter.

let me tell you about suffering. there was more hell in this scenario, but i wont go into it all now. i ended up losing my house because of my daughter's medical bills, etc.

side note for laughs:
as a result of the motorcycle spill i now have a map of south america on my left ass cheek. (well it is shrinking, it looks more like australia now)

if anybody is lost in australia, i can hook a brother up.

baby, lemme tell ya. there will be suffering in this life. but, cheer up, because good things are on the horizon.

and you can bank on that.

Re: Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Merry Christmas, you guys)
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of God. (Matthew 5:3)

What does it mean to be poor in spirit? The word poor is from the Greek ptochos, defined as "...a beggar ...denoting absolute or public mendicancy... distressed..." 2 Perhaps you have seen programs on TV which display the utter poverty of some third world nations. They are poor to the point of malnourishment.

The poor in spirit acknowledge their spiritually destitute state. Recall, Jesus told the Pharisees,

Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance. (Mark 2:17)

The one who follows in the path of Cain, refusing to acknowledge his sin cannot be helped by the Lord. Those who trust in self-righteousness, like the Pharisees, believing they do not need the Saviour, deceive themselves. "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," (Romans 3:23) Until we realize that we are spiritually destitute because of our sin, we will not see the need to turn to the Lord, nor are we able to experience the freedom He seeks to give us. We must be poor in spirit.

Our text goes on to say of these who have acknowledged their poor spiritual condition, "...for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." What is this kingdom? Why should it be important to us?

The phrase "kingdom of heaven" is used exclusively in Matthew's gospel, appearing 32 times. In the other gospel accounts, this kingdom of heaven is called the kingdom of God.

What can we know about the kingdom of heaven or kingdom of God? by the very name given to it, we should understand that it is a spiritual kingdom, designed out of heaven and owned by God Himself. Without knowing any more - what a blessing.

Rejoice! Jesus is the Poor! Love the poor!

34“Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35‘For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; 36naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ 37“Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? 38‘And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? 39‘When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40“The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’

41“Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels; 42for I was hungry, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me nothing to drink; 43I was a stranger, and you did not invite Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me.’ 44“Then they themselves also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not take care of You?’ 45“Then He will answer them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ 46“These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” Matt 25:34-46

28“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29“Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. 30“For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matt 11:28-30
