Nah, I'm good. Unemployed and get by just fine as long as all my tax paying slaves keep in line and keep going to work. Keep up the good work slaves, I couldn't do it without you :)

Thread: Over two million people will stop receiving jobless benefits immediately if Congress doesn't make a #fiscalcliff deal!!!

Thinks Capitalism is still the way to go...

How many lost your job due to it being "out-sourced" in a for profit move?

if you are still employed but know someone who has lost their job to the above, please feel free to chime in too.

Re: How many Un-Employed People here still...
Before I opened my herbal practice, I was a drafter and designer at a large-ish architecture firm. I worked on malls and resorts. We had six or so "studios" (departments), each specializing in a different type of arch, i.e. Landscape, schools/gov't, etc. In '08, we began to outsource more and more work to the Phillipines. One person could check their work when it came back and accomplish as much as five drafters here could.

Then the first quarter report came out showing retail and other sectors going down hard. Two weeks later, all projects in my studio were shelved. Two weeks after that, the firm of about 130 people reduced their force to about 25. I was pretty low on the totem pole, so I was among those RIFed. Big blow to me and my family. The market was flooded with drafters and Architects better educated, more experienced and (many were single) willing to work for less than me. Could not find a job in my field that would pay rent.

This led me to open my practice which, interestingly grows as people get poorer. My products and services cost about 1/4 of a doc's and, for most things, are as or more effective. For many of my clients, cost made the choice for them. Most, so far, aren't choosing herbal med for some hippy-ish "natural is better" mentality. It's just more affordable. Most of my clients can now handle most of their own care on their own.... for free. Just something to think about.

crony capitalism and corporatism/fascism/socialism aren't the right way. True capitalism is the right way. But progressive statist propaganda and gubmint schools teach people to hate and blame something that doesn't even exist. And hasn't in this country for a very long time.

Just saw where a Bank took Life Insurance policies out on employees un-beknown to them....one guy died and it was "slipped" to his wife that the bank got 1.5+ million and later it came out that they had a second policy and got a total of 5+ million on this guy

Re: How many Un-Employed People here still...
Capitalism may have made your country great, but it'll be the thing that destroys it. When the wills/profits of corporations become more important than the people and the peoples representation (supposed, y'know government) then it's gone too far. It just becomes about profit. No morals. They destroy our planet for a quick buck. Poison the citizens with their crap. They are allowed to get away with this shit. Hey, pay a quick fine? Few a few million in fines? Perfectly acceptable since they just made billions. Capitalism eventually creates corporations os powerful they ARE above the law. Heck, their influence can and does create laws to benefit them and disadvantage us. So yeah, capitalism has created the beasts that will consume us.

Sure capitalism can be great. there's still some hope for small business getting off the ground. Were will you be when they open the rights to everything? Food? Water? GROWING FOOD? Your own genetic material? You so the shit that went down in California with the labeling GMO. they paid for and got you believing it was in YOUR best interest to not have this stuff labelled!

There needs to be some sort capitalism that is only allowed to grow if it is of benefit and does no harm. Some sort of regulating body. Yeah, there's plenty, but they're all corrupt too. It boils down to "do your evil and then just pay a fine afterwards" as if that is somehow acceptable.

I'm aware I'm not listing things very specifically, but just enough for the point.
 Quoting: Master X

the corps + gubmint do that damage. you want non gmo food? capitalism will supply it. Your precious big gov + big corp will force you to eat it and give you no alternatives.

thanks for the link. pretty obvious that this is another case of corporatism-taking advantage of a corp tax break-proves the point about corporatism. There seems to be some confusion in your mind about exactly what capitalism is.

Not "really" outsourced, but folks who need a job and came here from another country took out ads in the paper to work for cash and put my employer out of business.

Finally found a part-time job working 12 hours a week in a restaurant for minimum wage. I'm making less than my unemployment benefits, which were $96 a week.

The cost of complying with gubmint rules, regulations, taxes and mandates is what put your employer out of business, not people who work for cash.
