How to be less self centered?

Find BALANCE in living for yourself and others.

Whenever I start to feeling really self involved - yuck I hate that - but doing good things for other people really gets me away from that.

We seem to be on the same wave length of finding the balance of selfless and self centered.

Don't worry about it. Just be calm. Stay self-centered and the outside world will take care of itself.

Not sure if I'm on the right track here... but we have a local saying that goes something like - "if you are not good to yourself, you are not good to anyone".
I am pretty aware this works as expected.

you need to pray and meditate.

when was the last time you sat alone with no tv no radio no internet no phone just sat there with your own thoughts?

now pray for humility. pray for your loved ones. pray for your neighbors and co workers. pray for everyone except yourself. Thank god for the opportunities he's given you and the wonderful life he's given you thus far. thank him from the bottom of your soul and apologize for your selfish ways. the harder you pray the more effective and by harder i mean the more you mean it from the bottom of your heart. if you are sobbing tears then i would call that an effective prayer.

AFTERWORDS YOUR BEHAVIORS WILL REFLECT A NEW PERSON WHO IS LESS SELF CENTERED. AUTOMATICALLY.

Mayhaps, change your name from "Legendary"...

Empathy is the key.

Practice placing yourself in other peoples' shoes.

Make an honest effort to try and understand a situation from another individual's perspective or vantage point.

To do this you must be able to temporarily disregard your own feelings/emotions in order to assume those of another.

Look at this endeavor as a challenge. It's a skill that you will refine over time. Practice.

The more you are able to step outside of your individual perspective and gain an awareness for the perspective of others, the less inclined you will feel to only identify with your own emotions/thoughts/perspective.

Some tips I try to follow:

Love, accept, and respect yourself and others.

Comparisons aren't useful, unless you are comparing within yourself. (I.e. who do you want to be, and how will you work to get there?)

Challenge and overcome any egotistical thoughts you have. We are all a part of something much bigger than ourselves, embrace it.

Consider how fortunate we are to be able to experience any of this at all.

Remember you are 1 in 7 billion. And you are unique, just like everyone else.

What actions can you take to maximize your potential, and the potential of the people you encounter?
