NRA's tell me if i can do this legally.
Can i break a 9mm handgun down into pieces, mix the peices up, and shipped u.s. mail in two seprate boxes- like 2 $5 usps small boxes- and ship it to another state?

it's not a gun anymore just metal parts. i've own the gun more then 10yrs. it's in my name. totally legal purchased from gunshop.

i want to get it here in Ca from Wa state. can i get busted for transporting a weapon across state lines?

Review your local gun laws...go to Gunbroker.com and they will have all legal methods of shipping, no need to send it in pieces as it is perfectly legal to ship the gun (without ammo) in working condition. How do you think the dealers receive there guns?

He already owns the gun, no need to ship to an FFL unless california law prohibits it, California is not very gun friendly so I would definately check your local gun laws.
