I think that is because a woman rarely meets her true soul mate. So then she is looking in all the wrong places to fill the void. Men as well.
In my previous marraige, I was miserable and convinced that if only my husband would do this, or that, it would be all better. It did not end well and it wasn't until I met my "now" husband that I understood the way things could be.

The best thing I've ever heard on the subject came from the movie "As Good As It Gets" with Jack Nicholas and Helen Hunt. He was an obsessive compulsive who fell in love with her (as best as an OCB can) Here os the quote....

Best description of a true love if I ever heard one!
In my case, my husband makes me want to be a better woman. I want him to be proud of me and I want his friends to be jealous of him. I want all my friends to know what I have too. It's amazing and I can highly recommend waiting till the right one comes along. If he/she doesn't show keep looking!
