As to the idea that an mma guy will beat a boxer everytime, well it depends on which sport they fight in. A boxer will knock out just about any mma guy in a boxing match and an mma guy will submit a boxer in an mma bout. However, since both fights start out standing, in a street fight the advantage goes to the boxer. All the boxer needs to do to keep the fight on the feet is sprawl. Let me put it another. From pure "sport" perspective.... Boxing is like watching All in the Family with Archie Bunker. MMA is like watching Modern Family... Both are entertaining.... But I'd be willing to bet that you would sit thru an entire season of modern family instead of all in the family. Why??? Because it is more sophisticated. MMA IS MORE SOPHISTICATED. Ergo... Boxing is outdated...two dimensional... And therefore dead. Go ahead and try to argue. SpookyWatcher I watch both sports and have respect for both styles of fighting. I don't see boxing as outdated or dead. Both are very exciting and some of the most exciting sports memories I have from my youth are related to boxing. Modern Family sucks. Sorry. There are no gay people in All in the Family, so I'll watch that although I don't necessarily like that show either. Why is it that people have to choose between boxing and mma? Why not watch both? Why? Because Dana White is trying to get people to not watch boxing for financial reasons. I like both sports and so I watch both. I don't choose between NFL and MLB so why should I choose between boxing and mma? I hope you ALWAYS have the choice. I'm just saying from an evolutionary standpoint....boxing is 70's sitcom. I LOVE a great stand up strike match! But the thugs who wear the ken shamrock t-shirts the other poster mentioned will gravitate to MMA. SpookyWatcher Some 70's sitcoms were a lot better than the current shit on tv, although I don't see one sport as better than the other. Like I said in my anology to NBA and MLB, I like to watch a guy hit a fastball as much as I like to watch a guy score a touchdown. As for the Ken Shamrock t-shirt guy, he was just some douche who tried to be tough by wearing mma gear. There is no need for people like that. It's kind of like fake Raider fans who want to be feared because they are part of the "Black Hole." Real Raider fans don't want anything to do with that type of crowd and real mma fans don't want anything to do with fake fans either. |
