High bypass engines, newer generation, high efficienct aircraft flying at higher altitude, and a huge increase in aircraft traffic, with the airlines focusing on more routes and flights with smaller aircraft vs fewer flights with widebodies. That's what's going on, and still no evidence that contrails have anything in them but combustion byproducts (much fewer with the newer engines). |
