London’s Sunday Times is reporting that Israeli special forces are operating within Syria in an effort to track the Syrian regime’s stocks of chemical and biological weapons.

The operation is part of a secret war to track Syria’s non-conventional armaments and sabotage their development according to the Times.

“For years we’ve known the exact location of Syria’s chemical and biological munitions,” an Israeli source said, according to The Sunday Times. “But in the past week we’ve got signs that munitions have been moved to new locations.”

Remembering back to not so long ago (last month?) how only about 33% of the Patriots in Israel actually hit their target, leaving something like 66% of the missing Partiots to carry on to hit other places on the ground.

So, 66% of the Turkish use of Partiots at the Border of Turkey/Syria would seem to result in effect in Turkey putting missle attacks into Syrian ground and perhaps killing even more civilians and bad-guys as well.

Who says that Partiots cannot be used purely in an offensive method?

A former top general in Syria's chemical weapons program says he doesn't doubt for a moment that President Bashar al-Assad will deploy his chemical weapons arsenal as he tries to hold onto power and crush the uprising.
"The regime started to fall and deteriorate. It's coming to its end," said retired Major General Adnan Sillou" It's highly possible that he'll start using [chemical weapons] to kill his own people because this regime is a killer."

Until September 2008, Sillou was chief of staff on the defensive side of the chemical weapons program. He was in charge of training soldiers against attacks and contact with the weapons, as well as procuring safety equipment to guard against them.
He listed mustard gas along with the sarin, VX and tabun nerve agents as the main elements in Syria's chemical arsenal, whose existence Syria doesn't even acknowledge. Foreign intelligence officials and analysts have focused on the first three as the main threats, and last week U.S. officials said there was evidence sarin had not only been moved, but its binary components, usually stored separately, had been combined and placed into bombs for use.

Sillou accuses Assad's forces of already spraying pesticides and dropping white phosphorous, claims also made by opposition activists.

"They're idiots, crazy. Simply they are killers," he said.

GENEVA- International inspectors could be rapidly deployed to Syria's borders if any of its neighbours raise an alarm about Damascus using chemical weapons, the deputy head of the OPCW chemical weapons agency said on Monday.

"We have intensified our capacity," Grace Asirwatham told Reuters in an interview in Geneva. "We are in preparedness."

"We are following the situation and are also concerned about the situation," she added. "However, we cannot go into the country because we don't have a mandate to do so."
