why are there random people talking to me in my hotmail?

you mean in messenger or youre getting emails from randoms?
if your profiles open to anyone(you can change that in your privacy settings)you could be getting tracked down by people just getting in touch from just looking at your profile or tracking you down via it.
If you have a skype acc. attached to that email addy, skype and hotmail messenger are merging and if you share contacts your skype friends can get at you via messenger.

It's email spam.... Some server gets access to your information (email address & name) and suddenly you start getting emails addressed to you from some totally random, made-up names... It's just spam, not real people emailing you.

Oh that... Same thing happens with Yahoo's Chat service... Spam

change your privacy setting in messenger
you want to set it so only people in your contact list can see when youre online and chat.You can also block them individually by right clicking and selecting block.
But you need to make your whole profile more private and stop using your addy for registering at random sites.get a shit email you dont use for personal stuff for that crap.

couldn't block them since i dont even have them added, and there was no option to block them.... i just found the sign out of messenger button so its all good now..
