Growing old.... single and alone...

Everyone tells me how smart I was to not get tangled up in a marriage.

I know so many men whose lives are destroyed because of psychotic ex-wives and the resulting divorce. Even a guy in know in his 60's is ready to toss his bi-polar live-in girlfriend out because he can't take her anymore.

Another man in his 70's should be retired as he doesn't need to work anymore, but he goes to work every day to just hang out and get out of the house and away from his wife.

I'm an older guy and I can't understand why I can't find a mature woman to live with me. The problem seems to be with the requirements that she not be Tonsafun or raving democrat, and be able to live in a materialisticaly deprived environment.

That is a hard question to answer...I have been 'alone' for almost 4 yrs...My husband died in 09 which made me a 'young' widow as I am called...I am in my 40's...For me I chose too be alone at this time...Will I choose to stay this way until I die...I do not know...

I would say most difficult for a woman , for many reasons.

I'm one and my married women friends are way more respected, taken care of and valued in society.

Well.. SOMEONE will be buying houses from her generation. Pharmacists make pretty good money, and if she marries well.. I don't see why not.

It's only 1 life of millions you have already lived, so it doesn't matter.

Some of the previous lives everyone has lived include;

Lots of offspring,
Lots of lovers,
Lots of solitude,
Lots of loneliness,
Lots of violence.
Lots of prejudice,
Lots of murdering,
Lots of raping,
Lots of wealth,
Lots of destitution,


etc etc.

Earth itself has a history beyond comprehension. Don't think you weren't once a part of that in various forms.

How old is your daughter?
Does she like older men?

I don't mind a few extra pounds but your other two points are deal=breakers for me as well. There ARE women who aren't materialistic but yes, they are raving liberals.

Like most kids these days, she live at home formost of her life! Nothing personal just the way the economy is heading

REAL problem with being alone IS, IMHO .... Being unable to receive/discharge one's electrically charged body via any sort of touching. Even animals know/do this by rubbing against each other periodically .

As you get older you pick up baggage, distrust and negative things like that. After you are burned a number of times it gets tougher to meet and trust new friends. Sad eh.

I have been married and lived alone. Each has it's advantages. Hard to work and keep a house up and a yard and pay the bills and do laundry all yourself. Takes a lot of time.

But doing all that for yourself and somebody else is hard too.

I like being alone but you need a person to call or go to eat with sometimes to keep rooted in reality or your own head becomes your reality and that can be dangerous
