Why does my TV "click" periodically while it is turned OFF?

IDK but mine just did it and it hasn't even been on in the last 24 hours.

If its a digital cable type, its programmed to update the viewer guide and timetable info.

UK ones usually turn on around 4am in the morning for a couple of minutes to do the TV guide and software updates.

It's not just sony's, i have a tube tv that's a few yrs old and it does it, and my ex's flat screen did it too.

I don't think its limited to one make or model, but I, like you, wish I knew what caused it.

TV's now days are never completely turned off. I used to have a 40" plasma which had a most beautiful picture and sound. However, my electric bill was going thru the roof.

I hooked it up to one of those cheap strips and when I wasn't watching it was disconnect to any power source. The big surprise was that my electric went down by almost $30 a month.

I was very seldom watching the thing......so I sold it. I warned the person who bought it from me [a friend] that his electric bill was gonna soar.

It wasn't long after that decided to drop the TV cable service altogether. I've never regretted it one bit.

its most likely the built in camera kicking on and off frequently to spy on you and your loved ones...

Unplug it and see if it still does.

I have a Bravia. What you are hearing is the tv going in to power efficient mode. Basically the samething as if you turned off power at your power strip. Read your manual next time.

i dont think sony are going to make a tv that clicks constanly while you watch it , unless they want to piss everyone off and go out of business , have you heard of any other tv that clicks when you watch it ???....no? think logically either your tv is busted and needs fixing or thr CIA are spying on you.
