A Serious Question
What if a government, or group of governments realised that at the current level and pace of technological growth the most incredible breathroughs and products would be readily available to the masses at very little cost or production hardship. What if people knew how easy directed energy weapons were to make (comparatively speaking). What if they knew how easy direct-to-brain signal transmission was (and other technology that could limit what all but the intended targets could hear). What if something akin to free energy, or close to it, was possible and could revolutionize everything from national energy development, weapons development, transport, medicine, space travel, etc. What if a Syrian, Nigerian, Belgian, or Honduran student could (more-easily-than-thought) level the playing field on a global scale. Wouldn't governments, to protect their global standing and the standing of the power-players within their borders, work to dumb-down the masses, hide the technology, play with the environment and lifespans, etc. Not saying this is being done -- but isn't it both possible and feasible? Wouldn't you do it if your goal was to stay in power, to ensure your comfort level, and that of your children and children's children? What would you do if every nation, with a little know-how, could drop that outdated technology called 'nuclear weapons' and pick up something far more devastating and yet far easier to make (once the know-how is obtained)? What if there was no 'national' advantage, what if my hand-held weaponry would be as advanced as that belonging to the best of the black-ops operatives. What if the ability to manipulate viruses, alter genes, influence the weather, generate earthquakes, etc. was as readily available (know-how wise) as owning a handgun or rifle. What if the manufacturing of such things was as readily possible as building a car, constructing a home, or putting together a laptop. What would you do if you were in control? Would you stand by and watch as such a leveling of the playing field disrupted economies, regimes, balances of power, trade routes, class distinctions, job security, cultures, etc? Or would you do whatever it takes to keep the masses from every single nation from being on a completely equal footing... what would you do?

Re: A Serious Question

I'll tell you what I won't do and that is to read this wall of text.

Have you ever heard of paragraphs?

Take a breath, please.
