Pinched nerve in lower back AGAIN!!! Advice please!
Ok so today we got a foot of snow and I looked out the window to see a few cars stuck on the street. I have an offroad rig and decided to clear it off and go pull them out. put on my boots and stand up and bam!( No good deed goes unpunished rings true again but that's ok) The yearly messed up back that drops ya to the ground! I got pissed this time and said you are not keeping me down this time mother F@#$%^!! So now I made it back in and trying to figure out ways to cope without meds because I don't have any and not going to the doc. Any advice appreciated as I am not going to let it keep my laid up for 2 weeks like the first time! peace

You might want to see a doc and get an xray...Could be a bulging disc from degeneration

Yeah, this shit hurts like hell. I've had a slipped disk in my lower back for about 4 years now. Don't put it of, go to a doctor. I've put it off and now I have a condition called sciatica and it sucks bad. My right leg burns like fire and my foot goes to sleep randomly all the time. I haven't tried to get any kind of disability compensation as I don't want to be that guy whom can't work cause of back problems. The pain however is torturous. Go get it checked out before you go through this hell as well.

Here's what I do whenever I feel it creeping up on me

I take capsules of turmeric/curcumin

I eat pineapple. If no pineapple available, take bromelain capsules, that's the ingredient in pineapple that reduces swelling/pain.

I put ice on my back.

I stretch/hang from the door overhang by my fingertips

I take homeopathic remedies for nerve pain/sciatica like arnica montana and a few others

Go to the chiropractor

It clears up in a day or two

Use a serious painkiller.
Use a muscle relaxant
Rub arnica montana on the painful spot

After half an our or an hour if the first two kicked in:
Use a Back Relief Therapy Inversion Table.
These are a hundred dollar on Ebay.

Works great for me.

Good luck!

The same thing has happened to me and it has become worse over the years..recently I was inspired by the vid. about Arthur a war vet who after too many parachute jumps stuffed his back. Finally he turned to Yoga. OYG what a difference, so I started to go to yoga, I have been to three lessons now and I cant begin to tell you how good I feel.

Slow stretching and controlled breathing...love it.

I also take a teaspoon of mother vinegar once a day and brush my teefs with Bi-Carb...and walk two kilometres every day, which is not much by other peoples standards, but Im just staring out.

Seriously ...YOGA

Yep, Yoga..i'm 42 and noticed i have been losing flexibility and muscle cramping up a lot. started Yoga last week and already feel looser and it kicks your ass muscle wise as it forces you to use stabilizer muscles that you dont tend to use very much IRL

lol
i came in here to write yoga too.
i have had lower back issues for 10 years from motor vehicle accidents.
yoga stretches all muscle groups but it also opens the hips. tight hips (from sitting too much at our computers) leads to lower back pain.
also, the more efficient your spine is, the more efficient your whole body is. you keep your spine healthy by stretching it.

Tens divice and ibuprofen. When pain dissipates, start going on walks to lesser the likelihood of having again soon..

Won't fix everything, but if you've got a sitting job, one of those seat cushions with the cut out hole for the tailbone to eliminate pressure works for me to prevent sciatica flare ups. Won't cure a herniated disk, but if it's mainly pressure on the nerve from sitting too much that is the cause of your pain, this really does help.

Don't know if your condition is related
but I thought I had a pinched nerve in my lower back,
turned out I had a problem with the sacral nerve bundle at the base of the spine. I'm doing exercises on my own sitting in a chair and standing which seems to be straightening everything out.

Lie on the floor on your back and listen to Russian Orthodox acappella
church music (lots available on youtube), preferably a very good all-male
chorus. There is something about that music which just melts away the pain.

Must be a vibrational thing.

I would recommend a chiropractor, mine fixes me up with a few tugs and pops. I also find hanging from something and letting my legs dangle helps a bunch. Like others have said yoga will keep it from coming back and its easy to do by yourself if you don't want to join a gym.

I am not a fan of the chiropractor because when it happened the first time they tried to give me adjustments and the pain was so bad I don't think they should have been trying to crack my shit! He even made a home visit but I wanted to shoot him by the time he stopped! I'm going to try the breathing and yoga techniques as I'm not big into the drugs unless absolutely necessary to function! Thanks all, GLP is a great place for advice because many of us can relate. Peace all

I know this will sound crazy but your back pain is the cause of a bad gallbladder. Do a gallbladder and liver flush and I gaurentee the pain will disappear. [link to curezone.com]
Some people claim its complete BS but it works for me... haven't had problems with my back since doing the flush once or twice a year. Look into a black walnut complex to help rid your body of parisites and eggs. Buy the way gallbladder removel is the most preformed surgury in the US... it think. Hope this helps!!!!

chiropractor

a real doctor won't fix it, he'll just give you drugs so it doesn't hurt

Chiropractic manipulations really works. You have to find a good one though. Try rubbing DMSO on the painful spot. Old family remedy even grand parents used and they lived into their nineties.

You can find it at a livestock and feed store. It is a liniment for animals.

Removes pain from joints.

DMSO may be helpful for relieving pain, inflammation, scleroderma, and interstitial cystitis however, intended use is as a solvent only and the choice of using it in other applications is the sole responsibility of the user.
