we work pretty hard around here, thanks. just redesigned the homepage a little bit, things are much more accessible and it updates multiple times a day.

I've been wanting to try making homemade ketchup.

This one looks like a good starting point:

Ingredients:

6 oz can tomato paste
1/4 cup honey (or agave)
1/2 cup white vinegar
1/4 cup water
1 tsp sugar
3/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/8 tsp garlic powder


Directions:

Combine all the ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium heat; whisk until smooth.

When it comes to a boil, reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring often.

Remove from heat and cover until cool. Chill and store refrigerated in a covered container.

Two things I take seriously (that I can think of at this moment) and that's my stance on ketchup and mayonnaise.

GMO is bad but I would be more concerned with the fats & cholesterol in the typical western diet causing problems.

Anyway, I knew GMO was bad news but I hadn't heard that certain GMO products had resulted in tumors in rats. Certainly something to research.
