Yes by law they have to .Expect sub par care and a big bill and set up a payment plan with them

fractured my elbow and ended up having compartment syndrome or some shit. a month in the hospital, 11 surgeries, 3 plates & 23 screws later..no insurance, no job, denied medi- whatever put on payment plan, bills over 500,000$ can't pay a dime. 1 year later end up getting infection had to go in another 1.5 weeks...get 1 plate and couple screws taken out...end up putting me on medi...no questions asked. unfortunatley dosent go retro active so that 500K + bill is still expected to be paid....MOTHERFUCK!!!!

It is my understanding that if you go to the ER, they have to stabilize you - i.e., make sure you are not in the act of dying right now. They don't have to treat anything other than your 'emergency' symptoms. They aren't liable for chronic issues. Depending upon the hospital you go to, your treatment will likely vary. But they don't have to offer anything other than the most basic of stabilizing treatment, under the law...

OP, are you just posing a hypothetical question or are you suffering from a terminal illness?

If so, what is your diagnosis please? Have you looked into alternative treatments that may turn the ship around?

Are you kidding me? I just read the thread title, but you march your butt right over to a hospital and you seek attention NOW!!!

They dont treat you and you tell me the name of the hospital and we're going to make sure you are seen, treated and prescribed whatever it is you need.

i feel i have something,i have a pain in my tail bone area , plus my legs have gotten a lot weaker and more painful ,starting to feel pain in my lungs area ,plus pain in my liver and kidneys . not getting any better .

It's the law if you enter a Hospitals ER with a catastrophe health rish they will not turn you down...unless you walk into a members only Medical like Kaizer or Group Health.
