Are these Mayans today related to the SAME Mayans who predicted 12-21-2012?

Good GOD, yet another GLPer repeating the stupid meme.

First of all, the ancient Mayans DID NOT make any "predictions" about 12/21 or any other date. All they did was make a calendar that ended on that date. The end of the calendar merely marked the end of an era/epoch/cycle. In fact, the subsequent calendar (the one that began on 12/22) was discovered, as featured on the Discovery Channel. This proves that 12/21 was not the "end of the world" to the Mayans. Again, they never even said that; that was retards projecting their own fantasy doomtard bullshit onto it.

You are correct that modern Mayans are NOT the ancient Mayans. Do they study astronomy to the same degree and possess the same knowledge? NO.

Does an epoch that has lasted thousands of years change overnight into something totally different? I doubt it, but who would recognize the America of today if they were transported from 10 years ago into our present day.

We've been feeling the change coming all along. It's hard to see the tree for all the forests in the way.

I think that the Mayans of today would tell you that they are the same lineage of people. The Spanish conquistadors destroyed most of the records of this civilization but did not kill all the people. Just tyrannized them and subjugated them to European rule.

The European invasion and destruction of Mayan culture has left many holes in the knowledge that the current Mayans have about their legendary worldwide ancient civilization that created the pyramids and calendars they are known by today.

The Olmec were the initiators of the Long Count Calendar which ends on 12/21/2012. The calendar is indicative of the end of an era, not the end of the world. The Maya who live today are the descendants of the ancient Maya, who were the descendants of the Olmec.
