"About 200 million years ago, a leech released a slimy mucous cocoon that unwittingly encased and trapped a bizarre animal with a springy tail, preserving it until researchers discovered the teardrop-shaped creature in Antarctica recently."

[link to news.discovery.com]

there's a picture of the said creature in the above link...

don't get too excited... cos its small...

"its body extends 25 microns (about the width of some human hairs) with a tightly coiled stalk about twice that long. And like all eurkaryotes, the organism was equipped with a nucleus -- in this case, a large horseshoe-shaped nucleus inside the main body. (A micron is one-millionth of a meter.)"
(taken from the above link)

but if you get overly excited over microscopic critters... then this is your cup o tea...

Are you serious? Do people really believe this?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27231023

Yes sadly they do, much like flat earthers believe the earth is flat. There is no point in arguing with them because their version of logic is to spout passages from a man made book that was basically written by Constantine to control the masses. Just leave them to their pig ignorance and fear, smile and carry on.

I will have to call a microbiologist family friend and ask if she's heard of this one, she's a college professor in San Juan, Puerto Rico and has been doing these studies all her life.
Just out of curiosity i want to talk "germs" LOL
She's a sweetheart and never pretends to know more than the average joe although she's the best in her field.
I've been meaning to call her to get her take on 2012 because she's in those circles of people who discuss these things.
I will let you guys know.

Correct! This moment of Yah's creation may be 6000, but the earth is far, far older. A lot of things went on between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2. I blame bad translations and man's self-centered orthodoxy for this oversight.

I can make this easy for you, should you wish to understand.

Compared to living today, and by some supernatural mechanism returning to the father, there is no need or purpose to imagine the details of this earthly dream make any difference unless your faith is so low, and your view so limited that you persist to focus on pointless details of this earthly dream.
If god is supernatural, there is no need to argue the science, for in the end, the science is transient and limited to this temporary existence
man from monkeys is unimportant because of transforming grace, and reunion with the father makes a counting of earthly years of no significance what so ever, if god is the origin of everything

There is no point in arguing about worldly processes if your goal in not of this earth, it's simply a distraction to divide the souls stuck here and nothing more

Re: Bizarre Creature Found in 200-Million-Year-Old Cocoon
The age of the Earth is 4.54 ± 0.05 billion years (4.54 × 10 9 years ± 1%). This age is based on evidence from radiometric age dating of meteorite material and is consistent with the ages of the oldest-known terrestrial and lunar samples. Following the scientific revolution and the development of radiometric age dating, measurements of lead in uranium-rich minerals showed that some were in excess of a billion years old.

The oldest such minerals analyzed to date – small crystals of zircon from the Jack Hills of Western Australia – are at least 4.404 billion years old.

Comparing the mass and luminosity of the Sun to the magnitudes of other stars, it appears that the solar system cannot be much older than those rocks. Ca-Al-rich inclusions (inclusions rich in calcium and aluminium) – the oldest known solid constituents within meteorites that are formed within the solar system – are 4.567 billion years old, giving an age for the solar system and an upper limit for the age of Earth.

"How do you date the age of a rock"...

And you're calling me a moron! Yikes.

A commonly used radiometric dating technique relies on the breakdown of potassium ( 40 K) to argon ( 40 Ar). In igneous rocks, the potassium-argon "clock" is set the moment the rock first crystallizes from magma. Precise measurements of the amount of 40 P relative to 40 Ar in an igneous rock can tell us the amount of time that has passed since the rock crystallized. If an igneous or other rock is metamorphosed, its radiometric clock is reset, and potassium-argon measurements can be used to tell the number of years that has passed since metamorphism.

Would you now like to know how we date girls, or perhaps how we eat food?

If your stuck due to some nonspecific defect I'll skip to the cliffs notes.

The many details of earthly life are unimportant if your goal is reunion with the father.
If I recall correctly, jesus suggested more than once that worldly affairs are essentially unimportant when balanced against salvation.
Clear enough?
