Quoting: geminilion A lot of people have told me throughout my life that I should do stand up but I know how hard it is. It's one thing to be funny it's another to fine tune delivery and think quickly on your feet...not easy. I do love going to see it though and support anyone who has the chops to stand up there and do it. I agree as far as the original cast goes. There were a few years (Farley, Hartman, Carvey etc) that were decent but they all failed and paled in comparison to the original cast with Chevy, Gilda, Belushi, Aykroyd. It does take a certain personality to deliver skits written for SNL but a bunch of them just suck. The writers don't seem as funny as they once were. They seem to have to insult in order to pull off being funny which turns out, not to be funny. This particular skit was different. Not bad. Not particularly great either. Just cute. There was no hidden meaning as many would like to spin this into. |

The start, MAINE JUSTICE, the united states is all red. first glypse at the flag threw me off as well before I got to read into the comments, but I noticed the giant red star in the center. I was only looking for clues, the humor was very dry |

That's when the judge says that there are a lot of Katrina refugees that relocated to Maine. Looks like they brought their justice system with them. Funny skit. |

Why did they play "When the Saints go marching in?" What's going on here? We were confused for most of the sketch -- maybe it was a town with a lot of Hurricane Katrina refugees -- but Jason Sudeikis's crazy Col. Sanders and a cameo by a moonshine-swilling Charlie Day made this whole bizarre thing kind of hilarious. " watch it in light of Bayou Corne Sinkhole.. listen to key words.. make the association to the "sinking of the maine".. rising water costs.. and the end.. ass on fire across the bayou.. This is a veiled reference... if it was just a one time occurrence , I wouldn't say anything.. but last year... before the Japan earthquake.. three weeks before.... they ran this skit: "a spot of tea"... at the time it didn't make sense... 3 weeks BEFORE the massive Japan Earthquake... [link to www.nbc.com] watch bayou corne / Louisiana for the next few weeks I always thought of SNL as like our generation of jesters for whoever is in charge, used to be king/queens. So the ones who know what is going to happen find it even more entertaining. They refer to Connecticut as north of them and refer to main as "down here". They reference Louisiana with gators, mardi gra and he says something about a bayou. And then they just flat out say Louisiana a few times. But big picture I don't know what all this is supposed to mean. If the sinkhole erupts or something then I will be concerned. |
