I never viewed the 2 stars as spirits, that is interesting.
and this is gonna sound corny, but a few months ago I had this dream, I saw 2 native americans looking into a fireplace of some sort, I watched them from the fireplace, as if they looked directly at me into the flame, and one of them said "the spirits are rising"

I didn't make much sense of the dream, but it could be a reference to the 2 stars, now that I see that they were also refered to as spirits.

or maybe the word kachina means spirit?

anyway, just a dream, there might be no sense in it afterall.
