This is strictly my opinion so take it for what it is worth.
What you have experienced is spontaneous kundalini awakening. My first experience was also spontaneous, and as such, I can understand your confusion. How it happened is anyones guess, and really of only minor importance. You have now had the experience, that is what is ultimately important.
You now know that this energy is real. You have an understanding now of what people are talking about when they say: "in the spirit", "the God energy" "Universal Love energy", "Chi", etc. The question now is what do you choose to do? Do you wish to experience it again? If yes, then start to meditate with the intention of raising it again. There was a very good link referenced in a past post as a starting point for meditation.
This is a raw energy and as such has some minor risks involved, as does anything in life. However, if you take it slow and easy it shall be very beneficial. Be cautious, not fearful.
Imagine living life within that energy. Imagine what you could do with that energy. This is the very experience that so many people are searching. Most are blocking themselves due to fear and a lack of belief that it is real, or that it is achievable. You now have the experience so belief is no longer necessary.
It will probably be a bit difficult to raise it again. You could turn to drugs; however, that causes a reliance on the drug. Learning to raise it naturally is the best way. You have been changed by this one experience in ways that you do not yet realize, so those changes have to process and become a natural part of you. Besides, the path is more important than the destination. What you will uncover and learn about yourself in the process of raising it again shall make you a much wiser person and prepare you to deal with it more creatively when it does raise once again. Patience and perseverance is prudent if you so choose to follow this path.

The spinal channel is the most important and the pituitary gland and pineal gland try to do it to the point that you feel a liquid dripping from it to your throat it's the manna.
