One of the easiest methods is simply to sit, quietly and focus on your breathing. Just watch the natural breath, in/out.. in/out etc. Your mind will wander, when yo notice this, just bring it back to the task in hand. Try it for a few minutes daily, see how it goes. There are, as I said above, plenty of other methods, but they all have the same aim, to internalise attention wit a view to stopping your internal dialogue. Good luck. It takes perseverance but the results are well worth the effort. |

Become more familiar with how your mind thinks. Observe the way your thoughts change from subject to subject without taking part in the process. It's good practice to sit in a position that lines up your spine and stay TOTALLY still. It's good to be in a dark, quiet room. This is just to keep out distractions. Once you get good at observing your mind without giving input, you'll discover that your thoughts quiet dramatically. I've seen that, once this happens, I sleep better and stress levels plummet. -GooGooFlexy- |

| -GooGooFlexy- User ID: 16797449 12/10/2012 09:53 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | thanks guys!would you recomend meditation music or just complete silence?and how many times a week do you meditate? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9787765 I personally think that silence is the best option. Music will distract you. The idea is to focus on something simple like breathing, or focus on nothing at all. And I used to meditate every day -GooGooFlexy- |

All the other posters have added effective techniques; give them a try, but remember, if you want to find water it is better to dig a well 100 feet deep rather than 100 wells 1 foot deep. Find a way that works for you and stick with it. Daily is best, but don't give up if you can't do it every day.. |

That is all you ave to do, no visualisation, no mantra,no nothing else. As soon as you notice your thinking just start to follow your breath again. Even thinking "is this working" or "am i doing it right" is taking your concentration away. Just follow your breath, trust me magical things can happen but don't wait for them or get frustrated. Just follow the breath... between the material and the astral planes... My Blog: www.everythingastral.blogspot.com |
