I buy a lot on Ebay and leave feedback to the sellers as soon as I receive the product and find it to be as advertised. I really don't care if they leave feedback for me or not.

I sell a lot on Ebay and leave feedback after I receive it from the buyers.

Re: For The Folks Who Buy And Sell On Ebay
As a person who has bought and sold on eBay for over 15 years, I can tell you that there is no way I am going to leave feedback for a buyer until I know that they have received the item and are satisfied with it and have no issues.

I don't care if they leave feedback for me or not (I don't keep track of who has or hasn't - with my high number of existing feedbacks it doesn't really matter to me). But there is no way I am going to immediately leave feedback simply because they paid me only to then find out that they are some sort of nut job who makes false accusations.

Luckily it hasn't happened to me yet, but I've seen it in too many cases of others. Paying me is only part of the overall transaction. My shipping out promptly and with good packaging is another. But the final piece is that the buyer is happy and has no concerns. When all parties are happy - then feedback can be left if desired.

Because once you praise the person and give good feedback, you have no recourse if they turn out to be a total asshole.

This.

What gets me are the buyers whining for feedback to be left after they buy before they leave theirs. Nothing more annoying than a whiner sending messages through ebay crying that they want their feedback.

Honestly your thoughts are backwards...the buyer can only buy...that's the only thing you can leave feedback for...the game is simple but your're fucking it up
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28368227

If the product you purchased was as advertised, shipped promptly and packaged correctly what is the problem with you leaving feedback before the seller does? I hold out in case the purchaser has a problem or is dissatisfied so I can correct it before they flame with bad feedback.

By the way, I am a Top Rated Power Seller with a 100% feedback.

you are responable for the rest...

That's the problem - they CAN do more. Do more damage.

I could do everything right at my end and they can lie on their feedback to me, claiming I was rude (how? we didn't trade any messages), lousy slow delivery (hey - you wanted the cheapest way - USPS Media Mail is not treated like first class), poorly packaged (it was in two boxes and the item was in bubble wrap - what more could I do? Have the angels deliver it?), claim it was broken (it was new and still in the manufacturer's blister pack) ... and the list goes on and on.

Again, I don't leave positive feedback until I make sure that the buyer isn't Charlie Manson.

From now on, when you are looking at items to bid on, look at the sellers' feedback ratings. For those not 100%, look closely at the reason given for negative feedback. You're going to find that buyers are not the angels that some people try to make them out to be.

Here are some examples from people I recently purchased from when checking their negative feedbacks and seeing some of the people they had to deal with. I had no trouble buying from them. Notice what the buyer CAN do.

NEGATIVE - "There is no tracking information and I STILL have not received my item!!"
RESPONSE - "It's hard for me to do anything to rectify the situation if you don't contact me"

NEGATIVE - "nice"
(yup - he liked the item but clicked the negative button - even after the eBay process asks if they are sure they want to leave negative)

NEGATIVE - "For NOT REPLYING wasting my time"
RESPONSE - "Person was replied, but apparently doesn't check email. Sellers stay away."
FOLLOW-UP - "YOUR A COMPLETE LIE YOU NEVER REPLIED DON'T LIE ON ME TO COVER FOR YOURSELF LIE!"

Buyers from hell.

Something would have to be worked out, and maybe eBay gotten involved. But once I write "Excellent buyer - great person to deal with" my hands are sort of tied, and no warn to warn off others.

No, the buyer can be a dick and give one stars (increasing shipping costs by making the seller lose shipping discounts) and negative feedback for any slight real or imagined.

Like I said before, the seller can only sell in a prompt and truthful manner...once they do that you should leave feedback....

Doesn't that make sense? The seller cannot give the buyer negative feedback, so what is the problem.
