Start out running a mile a day and time yourself. Then work yourself up to 5 miles. I lost 40 pounds in about 5 months from joining a wrestling club and working out with them. It was very painful hard work. Losing 100 pounds is extremely drasic weight loss and could take a very long time. You also want to be slow about it because you don't want to have all that loose skin. It helps to have an mp3 player with you when you're running to amp yourself up. It's a lot easier to talk about wanting to lose weight than to actually get out there and do it, so getting motivated is the first step. Best of luck |

I have tried numerous ways to lose weight. Eating wise and also Exercise wise. I lost 175 lbs about 10 years ago in a 2 year span (100 lbs the last year) but I exercised a lot, i love being outside, and ate very strict and healthy. Long story short, had a bad accident and couldn't work out anymore, stopped caring and gained it all back. Took almost 2 years for everything to be healed.. and guess what I gained 150 lbs back which I had lost before :( Never have I been more miserable having tasted life as a normal person. How different people treat you. How easy it is to get laid and meet people... gaining the weight back is like a horrible punishment once you see what it's like to be like everyone else.. who is around average body type. I would suggest (and I follow it myself)a gluten free diet (avoid soy that isn't fermented) and a sugar free diet. My body no longer craves these things. Wheatbellyblog.com has excellent information. Sugar is toxic. To help with sugar cravings, eliminate wheat and take bee balm (monarda fistulosa) tincture. Once I gave up wheat, the sugar addiction ceased. Bee Balm helped with the cravings. Since you have a significant amount of weight to lose, perhaps doing some stretching, yoga and/or qi gong would help get your body ready for more physical exertion as your weight comes off. Plain old walking is excellent as well. I wouldn't tax my joints right now and would proceed gently as your body detoxes and gets use to the changes. Something else to consider: When I gave up wheat and sugar, I wasn't looking for substitutes to take their place in the form of fake sugars (just as toxic) or bread replacements. I also do not eat meat and do not substitute with faux meat products. It defeated the purpose of eliminating these things from my diet to begin with. The documentary, Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead is also informative and may be a way to kick start your life change. Change the way you feel, think, act, speak, eat, fuck, etc. The critical components for most are joint restoration, which enables increased mobility. Then fascial density and imbalances can be addressed. There is a free program on Youtube called IntuFlow that will help you dramatically. It is the methods implemented by the Spetsnaz and many ancient martial arts to improve their body function. Another free resource is Recuper8. Also from the creator of TacFit and IntuFlow. There is not much need to "work out" if you follow these programs for a few months and restore your body. When your diet is restored to a healthy place for you, your recover rate will skyrocket. Also, start taking a ZMA supplement, you are most likely magnesium deficient like 85% of the population. This will change your hormonal playing field and restore Testosterone production. If your sex drive is weak, that is a sure sign there is a hormonal imbalance. When your body is rebalanced, you will WANT to exercise and move. The master key is your diet. Eliminate grains ( yes rice, oats, etc also...ALL GRAINS ) Increase consumption of greens, if you WILL not eat them, drink them through wheatgrass, or freeze dried powders if you must. If you have a good blender you can drink your greens by blending kale, spinach, sprouts, etc..... just get them in your body. Increase consumption of Omega 3 and 9 fatty acids from clean sources ( think North Atlantic Mackerel) or Alaskan Salmon. Reduce consumption of all vegetable oils ( high in omega 6 ), stop cooking with vegetable oils, use coconut oil or grass fed, pasture fed butter. Ditch factory dairy, stick with raw, grassfed dairy sources. Stop eating factory meat. Start eating grass fed beef, and organic pork, stop eating preservatives. Start hunting if you can.... no better source of nutrition in my opinion. If you know you WILL not do this, start slow, eliminate one thing at a time so as not overwhelm yourself. If you can, do it all at once, and start now. Clear out your cupboards, donate your shitty food to food bank, and start over. If you are worried about affording these foods, look at other costs you can reduce first, ie, gaming, cigarettes, beverages that are NOT water, driving when you could easily walk or bike, etc. Make the money appear for your health, or you will PAY for it later. Easiest weight loss I have ever had considering what I had to do before to lose weight as I am a supreme endomorph. As everyone above says. Dump the carbs. All of them.. except veggies. Wish I had done that before... during that Atkins craze! Low carb is the best way for an over weight person to lose weight. 1) You lose initial weight fast. Weight is weight and not having that water weight will make you feel better, clothing be looser and makes you more positive as you can see results fast. Blood pressure will go down. Insulin levels arn't spiking.. every 10 or so lbs gone made me feel like a new man! 2) Many of the problems you have will simply go away. You will learn that sugar is toxic and that's why you have stomach cramps and problems. I thought i had irritable bowel syndrome until i stopped with the sugar.. no problems now. I'm more hornier now then when i was 16! 3) Fat and Protein surpress your appetite and at the same time it's hard to over eat with them. Cutting calories and eating carbs is self punishment. You will always be hungry. On this diet you don't need to count calories.. at least in the beginning.. after awhile you may have to. 4) Eating Fat and Protein stabalize my weight. I don't have big weight gains anymore. Which means I'm just not gaining weight. I'm leveled or losing weight. Which means I'm not "Dieting" for 2 weeks only to gain it back on a weekend b/c i ate to much carbs. I went two months eating whatever i wanted and how much i wanted (low carb) and barely working out. My weight still went down a couple lbs. That's the battle right there. Simply not gaining the weight so easily means I'm not gaining 5 lbs and losing 5 lbs over and over. So i never lose ground yet. Tips on going low carb. Don't start on a Monday.. your asking for failure. Start later in the week... if you don't work on Saturday and Sunday.. start on Friday.. any exercise will speed you into keto. (fat burning mode) The first few days to first couple weeks will be rough. Headaches..etc. You will be tired and sleepy.. and you have to also get off caffeine in the beginning... as it can affect you the same eating sugar depending on your caffeine or insulin tolerance. Later on i went back on caffeine and it doesn't affect me losing weight now. I bet you need a few weeks or so on pure keto before you reintroduce caffeine. For the first week.. if your use to eating out.. keep doing so but NO CARBS... just the meat, which should be fatty. FAT/Protein diet is natural appetite supresent you just have to suffer to your in keto. Eventually you will eat to live and not live to eat. You won't overeat anymore and realize you don't need as much food to be satisfied. After a week or two.. learn to cook at home. Find goto meals. Easy to prepare that you like to eat...etc Again, eventually you will find yourself not starving anymore. It to me about 1.5 weeks to get to that point my first times. Whenever your on a calorie defency you have all your fat to burn! why should you be hungry? haha |

Yes you will build muscle, and initially feel better, and also, your NEUROLOGICAL system will learn that it is strong in very basic LINEAR movements. Once again, your body needs to be made FREE first. Once your body is free of limitations in range of motion you can start adding muscle mass and myofascial density. I used to lift 1.5 hours a day, 5 days a week, and I lost weight initially, put on muscle, and then put on muscle weight only. I got big. I was also practicing martial arts at the time, one that requires a lot of sensitivity and rolling, guess what....my neurological responses became garbage from weight lifting...even my golf game got crappy. I started training in 6 degrees of movement through a program called RKC, then moved on from that into TacFit and Circular Strength Training, which is the chosen exercise foundation for multiple federal agencies and special operatives groups. Why do they use TacFit? These individuals need to be able to move in a way that will keep them alive under the highest levels of stress....... In the end moving is better than not, but the only way to move better, is to move better, not move the same more....does that make sense? |

After losing weight i'd never take any fitness person/trainer seriously. I can look at them and know they have had it easy. They usually have no comprehension of what it's like to work out being 150+ lbs over weight. How hard it is. It could be as hard if not harder to regularly workout that over weight verse what pro athletes do... This guy knows now! Every trainer should do this if they are serious about helping obese people! Put up or shut up! [link to www.cnn.com] Remember your on Keto. Any activity you do is burning fat. Fast or slow. #1 Walking is King.. Your duration is all that matters. Any time will do. If your thighs chap get spandax that covers that area. If you can walk somewhere instead of driving.. do it! Feet hurt? Get Dr. Shols stuff it works. #2 Biking is the true King. Big muscles, big calories to use.. big calories to recover and it's easy and something you can do for some period even out of shape. Overweight it's hard to bike.. the positioning, your ass hurting..etc. But stationary recumbent bikes are great.. if your own one you can watch a movie while riding it or a quick 30 mins program. No stress on joints, you weight is not a factor. #3 Weights are great as you will not be losing muscle like you would on a carb diet. I'm a big believer in push-ups, sit ups, chin ups and kettle bell workouts. Just my style.. i have no desire to be muscular.. i want my muscles to be useful not for show.. #4 I'm a swimmer but not everybody is.. or has a pool to use. Swimming can be done at any weight. want a intense workout to do when your obese? Get a kickboard.. kick all out in the pool. Same as sprinting on land. W/O working out I was losing rough 10 lbs a month on low-carb. Did that for a few months. I LIKE working out thou so started up after about 3 months. Lost around 15 lbs a month. Felt a lot better. But I enjoy working outside and swimming.. as a hobby. |

You want first of all to stop gaining - that's more important than most people realize and don't congratulate themselves on a very important step achieved! Grab these two links and watch them over and over - until you get it. These can save you a fortune in medical costs later in life and more importantly, can save your quality of life. It's so painful to see many people when they hit their 50's and 60's develop just crushing health problems, most of which could have been avoided. The high blood pressure is a BIG red flag. If you can, get a real dietition to work with you, or naturopath. They study nutrition and its effect on health. My MD has both in his group. You have to look, but it's time well spent. Try to eliminate all gluten and GMO's from your diet. I had same stomach/rib cage/joint pain. Almost had my gallbladder removed but a surgeon at the last minute said...it ain't bad. My wife..God bless here....figured it out. Our food changed recently.....forget why jut try to ditch the gluten. Also....wheat in general. I dont care if its in your house, if you walk the driveway, or walk down the street you HAVE TO MOVE YOUR BODY!! Calories in...calories OUT!! Every workout video has modified versions for those with chronic problems...Thats what you need to do!!! You also need to exercise with elastic bands to strengthen your muscles. It sounds as if you wouldnt physically wouldn't be able to make it in a SHTF scenario if your life depended on it and thats NOT a good thing.You didnt get fat overnight and you wont lose it overnight!! Until you realize that this is something you have to do EVERY DAY for the rest of your life you will n3ver succeed at a diet. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 27785792 United States 12/12/2012 12:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | watch your carbs - they are the devil. they will trigger your appetite via insulin production. cut sugar, junk and fast foods. try to keep what carbs you do eat to fresh fruits, veggies, salads and nuts and seeds. for excercise walk one way 15 mins and then turn around and go back...work up to 30 mins. buy two 5 pound dumbbells and start with those for basic weight training (bi's, tri's, shoulders, upper & lower back, chest, etc. squats and lunges for legs (if you can't do those yet...do step ups 60 each leg. most importantly - don't give up...keep at it. if you slip up - let it go, it's in the past. the next meal you have is your chance to get it right again. good luck. i know it's hard...been there, done that and all. I can't say if it's eliminating gluten, eliminating grains entirely, greatly reducing dairy, or the increase in omega-3s, but something definitely works. I do think that the bumps point to a need for dietary change, not just exercise and calorie restriction. That's maybe great if your sole goals are weight loss and increased conditioning, but it sounds like you've got a bunch of symptoms of inflammatory issues that need to be addressed, and diet is a good starting point for that. |

In between each meal have a light snack. Things such as fruit, veggies and maybe a handful of triscuits do well. Fat Free foods often have a good amount of sodium. Use lemon water to battle bloat. Warm up the water add lemon, drink as a tea. Its a natural dieuretic. Walking five times a week for one hour helps too. No carbs after 5pm. Drink 32oz of water daily. Keep sodas to a minimum. Use splenda for sweetener. Lots of raw veggies (I believe another poster mentioned this..its absolutely the truth!) Don't give up. Portion sizes are vital. Two to four pounds a week is a good weight. My mother was 279, she is 160 now thanks to these tips..I was 325 after two life-threatening pregnancies and a lifetime of weight issues/blood pressure probs/ and a failed gallbladder. Maybe your pain could be gallbladder related? I now weigh 180 after a long hard journey. It is possible, keep positive and you can achieve your goal. |
