Taxpayers spent $1.4 billion dollars on everything from staffing, housing, flying and entertaining President Obama and his family last year, according to the author of a new book on taxpayer-funded presidential perks.

In comparison, British taxpayers spent just $57.8 million on the royal family.

Fiscal cliff? Don’t tell the big government spenders.

One of the infuriating aspects of the current fiscal crisis is that, in countless ways large and small, very few people in Washington behave as if there is a fiscal crisis. The bureaucracy is living high… President Obama is conspicuously disinterested in doing any belt-tightening, in either his official duties or recreational activities. The lifestyle of the First Family is more appropriate to French royalty of old than the management team of a bankrupt nation teetering on the edge of a “fiscal cliff.”

this is what I can't stand..

and can anyone even beat a 2nd term president anymore? with the resources and overpowering influences and contacts they have.. i don't think a fair election is even possible..

most of DC doesn't evenhave to be told to cheat or lie for him to win re-election.. their jobs depend on it to.

As Americans face a fiscal cliff, the Obamas make do with 54 Christmas trees

Amazing how a reelection can reshape an incumbent's thinking about many things. Now safely ensconced in the White House for 49 more months, the Obamas have decorated the place with 54 Christmas trees this year.

Even allowing for the usual Washington excesses with taxpayer money, that's a whole grove of Christmas trees.

"We have 54 trees in the White House," an excited Michelle Obama proudly told visitors the other day. "54! That’s a lot of trees."

In fact, the Obamas' 54 trees this year are almost 50% more Christmas trees than last year. That was during the campaign before Obama whispered a reminder to the Russians that he had to be careful until Nov. 6, when a victory would give him more "flexibility."

Residents Alerted to Obamas' Hawaiian Holiday Plans

Residents living near the beachfront homes where President Barack Obama and First Family vacation with their friends every year since 2008 were alerted on Monday to some specifics of the Obamas' holiday vacation plans.

The report delivered to residents living along the ocean and canal that surrounds the multi-million dollar homes at Kailuana Place where the President stays, informed them of restrictions that will be implemented for 20 days beginning December 17 and running through January 6.

Adding to the controversy surrounding the President's visit is the cost of the trip.

With the staff, special forces, local police presence and equipment, the President's visit adds up annually to at least a $4 million vacation courtesy of the Hawaii and federal taxpayers.

Maryland man wants Obama to use vacation funds for Sandy relief

After Somerset County residents learned this week the county had been denied help from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, a petition was begun at the White House website.

John Phoebus wants President Barack Obama to cancel an upcoming vacation and send the $4 million it will cost to Somerset County, Md. for disaster relief.
