Oh bla bla bla bla bla everyone asshole that comes down the pike wants "independence" When are people going to learn that "independence" is an illusion. NO ONE is truly independent of anyone else in this world. ALL is connected. Like it or not it is.

If you refer to the post in which I used independent, I meant that we aren't goverment parasites or at the public trough....

I'm a fourth generation Oregonian living in Los Angeles, and one thing I know, there is no money back in the old country.

Sorry OP, but Salem is a shit hole.

Salem is not a shit hole. It's just boring and bland.

There is nice parts, but plenty of meth users and family of convicts that settle there to be close to the prisons.

As a city, it's like a mini-portland, with a little bit of everything. But yeah. it's rather boring here.

It's like a mini outer SE Portland....AKA, Felony flats.

Salem isn't exactly high crime rate. I've lived here my whole life and nothing seems to go down, even in the central/north/eastern parts.

Yeah, I guess Portland is a great place if you're a Birkenstock-wearing vagitarian yuppie. The openly gay mayor won't fix the holes in the roads but funnels all of the public money into bicycle paths. And he supports (and marched with) the OWSers even though they smashed windows, threw Molotov cocktails into buildings, smashed car windows and slashed tires, and did hundreds of thousands of dollars to the parks they squatted in as well as leaving TONS of GARBAGE.

I hope that when California goes into the ocean, by some miracle Portland goes with it. The rest of the State is great, the further away from Portland (and Multnomah County) you get.
